hairmad, do exactly the OPPOSITE of what I did I fully expected my lf to e a 'beater' when I finished with it, so I am very surprised that it still looks good. There were times that I had to just walk away and try another day. So, you must have patiences!

Ok, this wig tried to whup me, but I won! It was way longer than what I ordered, so I cut it. I bleached the knots and the roots! I did the ritz dye, which removed the yaki and made it straight! I dyed the lf black, and the roots! I purchased self-tanning spray and re-dyed it. I then permed it on rods, it was too curly/silky, so I permed it again using the 'how to make yaki' thread. The color was too dark, so I re-dyed it dark brown. And I cut it again. Now it looks great! No ants and no tangles. I have applied it twice now with Mighty Tight, but that is so messy. I found a place in Irving and bought BlueLiner tape. That seems to work better. I will take pics this weekend and post them.
I have spend HOURS getting to this point, good thing I have a lot of time on my hands!
Thank you ladies for your great information and support!!!

Yes, I did bleach again after the 2nd dye-remover bath. I used L'Oreal super bleach or something like that. I guess I missed the brand Breh mentioned. Is it in the newbie thread?

Ok, this lf whupped my butt!!! First, I tried to dye the roots, after 45 minutes and no luck. I re-read the newbie thread. So, I go to Wal-mart and buy Ritz dye remover. I dipped and dipped and dipped... Then I bleached the roots again. Still ants crawling all around.
So, I try another dye remover bath and more bleach! Still have ants only now, it is no longer a light yaki and it's no longer #4, it's more like a bright orange!!!
I don't know what I'm doing, so if anyone has any ideas on how to correct my boo-boos, I would really appreciate it. Right now, I'm just lost and disguested...

Hi Shonita, I have not applied yet. Seems I have a touch of the flu! After church and cooking dinner for family and friends on Easter Sunday, I was really tired. After a visit to my doctor yesterday, it's the flu and I did have a flu shot. Hopefully later this week I will get the enegry to apply and post pics!
Right now, she's just sitting on the vanity, looking purty

Well, Miss Thang arrived this morning and the first thing I did was plug in the ole curling iron to see if she was human hair. Well, she is! I curled the entire unit and there was no smoking, melting or burning! I guess I lucked out. She's had her knots sealed and her first wash. She's now drying in front of the fan. I'm still hoping to apply for church tomorrow. Wish me luck, ladies!
What's the outcome ChildofGod!

ChildofGod, two ways I can tell when synthetic hair has been added to a LF is by its texture and also when you try to apply heat to it the synthetic hair starts to melt. I hope this helps.
