Probably in between the two recent pics (the dark and the light) would be my choice ... though both look good but a little unnatural to me.

The big red lipstick is really distracting.  I always thought she was a natural beauty so tone down the makeup.  Hair wise, not bad, personally I would prefer it just above shoulders

Shailene has gone on record saying how much she loves long hair. So don't expect any change soon--except ever increasing length.

I don't actively dislike it (I assume the black is for a movie role) but I really liked her short hair, especially the blonde, pushed-forward pixie version, and as I often am when cool short cuts grow out into more generic long styles (Ann Hathaway) I'm sorry to see it go.

Hollywood sets a high bar and IMO Shailene Woodley has never had an inclination towards Hollywood level beauty.  She gets fixed up for magazines but clearly doesnt prioritize hair/makeup the way many other starlets do.  I admire her for trying hard to make short hair work but she just didn't have any sense of edginess or cute styler with it.  Back to long, healthy and simple is best for her.

This is an untouched up, no makeup, sloppy pick.  It just is what it is.

Wow, but you guys are harsh. As a layered, mid-length style, it isn't really that bad at all. And, if one is growing her hair out, it doesn't automatically go from bob to below shoulders. Seriously. Look it up. I'll wait.

I think you are reacting more to the color, which is very dark, very flat, and doesn't give the style any depth at all. Maybe it's the lighting in the picture, but the color and her skin tone just aren't a great combo. Dark brown would have been fine, but black doesn't work.

I don't buy the idea that her hair has to look shapeless as she grows it out. We've seen Anne Hathaway, Chyler Leigh, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Jaimie Alexander, and Malin Akerman all rock bobs as they grew their hair out. When you have access to top hairstylists any time you want there shouldn't be an awkward grow out phase.

Other than the length (it either needs to be shorter or longer), the color (too dark, makes her look pasty) and the style (or lack thereof), it's fine!

Despise is too strong of a word... I'm apathetic about it.

I've always been ambivalent about Shailene, but I think the shortest of her pixies at least made her interesting, made her stand out. Any other length seems to leave her as just one in a crowd.
