This is just a small point......
I live in the tropics in Australia, it gets soooo hot and humid in summer. I used to have hair that was down further than the middle of my back (it looked dreadful, I never looked after it...but I was only 14) and it got SOOOO hot in summer here. To have longer hair than that would be ridiculous. My friend used to have really long hair too, and would continually wear it in a messy bun on the top of her head just to keep cool every afternoon at school.
Isn`t the hairstyle a bit impractical in a lot of climates?
From the one and only Kimberlina from Australia!

I am sorry if my comment sounds harsh, I think I will be more carefully in further statements. I wanted to show that it can be reasonable to stand for a long hair independent of what other people think about it.
This morning I saw a woman with long straight butt length hair and it was the only thing I saw (between all the other people in the underground). For me it makes such a difference. I think I am biased by this long hair and I am looking always for arguments to defend it, it may happen that I sometimes go to far and I am grateful for corrections.
Besite this there exist a real life with almost short haired people and completely different requests, long hair appears more to be fairy-tale then reality for me.

You estimation of this men sounds like a moralic judgment and the punishment follows immediately. I think if a woman will cut off her beautiful hair she don`t need it. I am sorry, but for me it is a loss of beauty.
Dear Wolfgang:
Who knows if Michelle cut her hair because of men but personally I find your statement a bit harsh toward her. Who do you think is being punish if the decision was hers? How dare. And just because she decided to cut her hair doesn`t mean that she is less pretty or whatever! If the decision was because of men then I certainly understand where she would be coming from. I am one of those woman who doesn`t care for men to chase me because of my looks and yes I was one of those woman that men would phone me when they thought my husband was out of the house and I had no respect for those men. LOng hair can easily attrack the wrong kind of guy as it can attrack the right kind of guy. It can get a bit frustrating to be treated as a piece of meat and not a human being. Having money or intelligence tells most people to respect that human being but I seriously don`t think that things will change soon how some men will treat women. Not that I hate men. Actually I do happen to have a few good men friends that I had for 20years or so and they understand the beauty of the heart and not this long hair garbage attitude. Sorry but this rub me the wrong way. Just because women decide to do something it doesn`t mean that they are punishing men for goodness sakes.

If I understand you correctly you had beautiful waist length hair and you cut it off because of its attraction to men. I don`t understand this.
After my opinion the distribution of natural or material gifts follows no rules, but if it will be refused by its receivers the distribution was wrong.
Some people get a lot of money from their ancients, others get more intelligence or force to follow their goals then others. As an result differences occur in society.
If all the differences will be cut off a kind of communism will occure that doesn`t work in reality, as we all know.
Individuals need space to evolve themselves and this results in a better quality of the society in general. I see no reason why a beautiful long hair should be excluded. You estimation of this men sounds like a moralic judgment and the punishment follows immediately.
I think if a woman will cut off her beautiful hair she don`t need it. I am sorry, but for me it is a loss of beauty.
I would hate to have a husband that obsessed about long hair. Its nice to appreciate longer hair, but remember its still just hair. I used to have near waist length hair and have since trimmed it to around mid-back as it seemed to attract alot of men who saw my hair long before they ever saw me.

WEll David I guess that would seem perfect for you. Interesting. YOu do realize that would also be a world where no women would have choices or the ability to make decisions. Isn`t being an American is based on the whole concept of being free to make decisions. Nice fantasy.
Sure you have the right to choose the women with whom you will associate except when it comes to those short hair lady judges!!
Don`t get me wrong. I truely enjoy men who love women with long hair as long they can accept that the person under that hair is a person that should be respected no matter what her hair color is or lenght.
I am an American, and proud to be one. What makes our country so great is that everyone is entitled to express their opinions and choose the persons with whom they associate, even if others disagree.
I want a world where all women have long hair. The Inside Edition show in question, was, in my opinion, a horrible spectacle. It was obscene, in my view.
I am marrried to a woman with long blond hair. Every woman I dated before I was married had long hair. When I have the choice, I do business with long-haired women, as to both customers and vendors. I do not employ short-haired women. Of course, women have the right to whatever hair length they choose. But I have the right to choose the women with whom I associate.

okay Wolfgang I fully understand where you are coming from with this hair passion because I also enjoy seeing long hair on people. I have been accused of being a strong pro long hair and had royal shit when I had a trim and then been accused of promotting hair cuts because I had a trim which I never thought it was fair. I really think that some men do go overboard with their passion and fears about women with hair. NOt talking about you Wolfgang. I guess as a woman I also understand why some people would feel that they need to cut their hair or whatever. For me it is important that choices are there for us to make eventhought someone thinks of cutting their long hair that they have grown for years. That is where you and I get lost. I will never understand this anger that some men have toward these talk shows when it is very clear who decided to show up on the shows etc. I personally don`t think that we women can look all beautiful with long hair or all with short hair or all with the same hair color. I guess that is where I find the beauty of hair. I love seeing how many shades make up a certain color and nevermind the lenght of the hair. I enjoy how a person chooses their hairstyle and the positive effect it has in general when they feel beautiful. Whatever makes a person feel at ease is so nice to see. I find that some men who have this hair fetish in general on the internet tends to overdramatise the talk shows and undermind the possible decisions that the women made and think that there must have been other reason that we the public don`t know which is false. I really wish that some men would just accept that we women make decisions.

I have to reply to three messages and this is only possible for me if I separate some of the statements.
"To me and you can bark at me but I find this very controlling action"
I think I am always frustrated if beautiful things will be destroyed, it may be a nice snowman, a tree or a forest and also a beautiful long hair. From personal experiences I know that nothing is more boring for me as to control someone. I like intellectual disputs if they help to improve my own estimation of a subject and I like intelligent women, and I don`t see that this gives a contradiction to long hair. Both together is the most exciting thing I am looking for.
"Why would anyone who cares to keep their hair contact such shows knowing full well that the relative or friend will challenge them on the show?"
This is the question we have different answers, and I think both will happen.
The estimation of this shows also depends from the fact how you like the result, and this is completely different for us. I never have seen a so called drastic makeover where I liked the result and believe me I have a lot of magazines at home, I have seen several Oprah shows and I have visited a lot of different websites.
This is a personal preference. You may enjoy this events particulary or in general and you will find a lot of people who agree with you but I have a different sight of view.
So it is impossible that we both will friendly sit together and enjoy a makeover show whatever the reasons for this will be.

Okay Wolfgang one for you. Today I heard the talk show asking for women with floor lenght hair who have relatives or friends that want them to cut their hair.
The message is pretty clear right? Now if I was a floor lenght hair woman I would certainly be waiting with a sling shot near the door for my relatives lol. Why would anyone who cares to keep their hair contact such shows knowing full well that the relative or friend will challenge them on the show? This is what I mean about passing the blame at times.

I will tell you Wolfgang what really drives me up the wall. I find that some men are not very honest with their feelings when it comes to passing this blame. I find that some men are placing the blame on the talkshows , locks of love when the so call frustration feelings should be toward the women that go on the shows. Seriously I don`t understand why you guys are passing your frustrations and blaming everything when deep down you are really frustrated toward women who make decisions about their hair. To me and you can bark at me but I find this very controlling action. Men can decide things but us women can`t and when we do we couldn`t possible have the brain to decide this. Seriously do you really think that shows and lock of love have everything to do with the prevention of having an earth full of Dianne Witts? I can easily tell you that I have a cabinet full of expensive porcelain dolls that have real human hair and I can easily tell you that when I was growing up I remember women going to the stylist selliing their long hair ponytail to companies that would make wigs and porcelains dolls. I can also easily tell you that my great aunt which I have already mentioned in the past cut her ponytail and kept it as a memory and that once in a while I and other children in the family would see it. Let me see we Canadians don`t have those talk shows nor locks of love and yet women are cutting their hair and some are growing it. I would think it is the same in your country? This been going on for years and years and maybe you are so frustrated because the shows bring you to the reality of things.

Well Wolfgang these women do not have the hair length of people like Dianne Witt. If you never seen someone walk off the stage because they change their mind that means that they knew what they wanted all along.I get the feeling that it seems almost impossible for some men to understand that women would decide this all by themselves? IN this show yes they all decided to give their ponytail to locks of love but it wasn`t the reason to their decisions. So what if locks of love received their ponytail. Would you have rather see it in the garbage can? NOt that I am defending locks of love but again noone was pressure into it. To say that women were pressure into it to me men would be saying we women have no brains.

"The particular show that I mentioned was about changes. You have also mentioned that you didn`t watch that show. "
Diane, I remember you told at the end of the show there was this cancer child. I have no reason to believe that a woman with superlong hair would visit this show if this will not happen at the end, independent of what will be told there.
"So the big question that I would certainly asked men in general that talks so strongly against these talk shows is what is the problem here? Do you seriously think that censuring talk shows is best for women?"
I think everything has a lobby for defending its interests or likings, and why should I be calm in view of this shows? I think it is necessary to express the own feelings and judgement of this and everyone can compare it with other statements and he/she has to decide if it will convince him/her or not. And I am open to change my mind through discussions, if the arguments will convince me.
I never have heard that a woman has come to a different solution and left one of this shows with her long hair, so I conclude there is no free discussion about this event.
A reasonable talk show about changes also needs different meanings, I know that there is a potential of long hair appreciation in the country but this will not be heard, and I think a woman with superlong hair has the right to be appreciated for it, but sure it will not be done on this places. And you can beat me or not, behind all of this shows there is a shadow of locks of love. And at the end the women will be appreciated for their great heart.
I don`t understand why changes always have to be done from super long to short, changes include all possible hair lengths between this extremes, maybe a women could leave a show with waist length hair or bra strap length hair. From a Oprah show I heard that she refused this to a visitor although she (the visitor) asked for it.
From another show I heard that the "talkmaster" even cut off the hair of women insite the auditorium if he could catch it.
I am not intended to pressure a woman into super long hair. I only feel appreciation if the hair exist and I would like it if I had a possibility to transfer it, (as it happens on some long hair sites) and I give my individual estimation of this cut off events. Besite that, after my opinion everyone should be happy with that what he/she likes.

Thank you Lina for your perfect description of tears. I knew it in my heart but couldn`t find the words.
This shows are definitely not intended for changes but for locks of love and I know from several discussions that women in an increasing manner are pressured from society into hair cuts that they really don`t want. ( Wolfgang)
This brings a lot of different feelings for me. The particular show that I mentioned was about changes. You have also mentioned that you didn`t watch that show.
I think hair have brings out feelings at times. For example it can represent feminity but to some people it can also represent a threat to their safety. Some women here shave their hair because they are scared of being victims. Now those are not the ladies on those shows. Don`t get me wrong. I wished I had a daughter and that she would have long hair. That was my thinking for many years. One day two girls walked into my life and both had long hair. One is boyist and still has long hair and the other one who had similar hair as mine cut it because she was tired of spending time combing it etc. Her hair really tangled. I bought a very good brush for her three years ago but she couldn`t handle all that responsibility. Now she is really good in gymnatique ( wrong spelling) and the rules were that if the hair wasn`t long enough for a ponytail one had to cut very short so her hair is now short. She was very discouraged because the stylist didn`t cut her bangs straight and she felt ugly about it and everyone tried to make her feel pretty. The whole point of this story is that my future step daughters taught me what is the meaning of being really feminine. Maybe it was the snooping in my perfumes, makeup and checking out the barrettes but it made me think that it didn`t mater what the length of the hair was in life. It also made me strongly become a voice in choices for sure because of them. Feelings about changes starts so early in girls and feelings of being beautiful. My youngest girl when I met her was in tears because she felt she was fat. IN reality she had more curves than her sister and that was the only reason but all the female talks I had to have with her to prove her wrong about being fat. NOw my approval of her short is very important to her and I would certainly protect her decisions in life. She used to play with the hairbrush and torture my hair. At times I wasn`t sure if I would have walk away with hair lol. I am very much someone connected with earth and has to really think about life etc and I guess I came to a conclusion there will always been women with different lenghts of hair throughout life and not a stupid talk show will ever change this. Not society nor relatives will decide what is best for ourselves when we as women know what we want and are confident in our choices. So the big question that I would certainly asked men in general that talks so strongly against these talk shows is what is the problem here? Do you seriously think that censuring talk shows is best for women?
I live in a country that censors. Lately our government is hammering more laws about the internet which I totally agree as a family oriented member of society. The laws are getting the people involved and we are not taking any garbage anymore. Even on the internet and on the TV we are censored. This is very important for the safety ofour families.
. Talkshows are just stupid. STupid. First of all I will never understand how anyone can go on a talkshow and spell the beans of sleeping with so and so and try to find out who is the real father of their child. Being a person from a small town I don`t understand this. lol But the talk shows do get my attentions when they have fashion shows or about women and men wanted to change their looks and why not. Why not have the fun of parading in front of million of people and having your family and friends see your new look. I seriously don`t see the wrong in doing so. That is not an illegal act and if it was there would be major law suits. Noone threathens people to go on those shows. There was no gun to their heads etc. I don`t understand the frustration or the anger about those shows especially that last one I watched because there was nothing wrong about it. I have seen quite a few of them and the message for very loud that it was the women choice in the matter and the women had the chance to change their minds during the shows. I have to say that at times long hair is lots of work and at times it can cause accidents like Crytal Gayle tripping over her hair and breaking her leg etc. I was trap in a car for tiny period as my dog practically walked all over me lol. How many stories can women share about having long hair and the trouble it caused even thought at times it seem funny to share them. I love long hair but I can easily see why some women cut it.

I appreciate very long hair and I agree that it is an individual choice of the women to wear it.
If the women are happy with their new style I don`t have anything to complain, it`s not my life and I am not interested to talk someone into something that he/she don`t want.
It is not traced by this shows if the women are happy afterwards or not and it is not clear what really happened with the cut hair. This shows are definitely not intended for changes but for locks of love and I know from several discussions that women in an increasing manner are pressured from society into hair cuts that they really don`t want.
I think for clarity I have to say that I am not a fanatic who only accepts very long or super long hair, the most women I appreciated in reality for long hair have hair down to their shoulder blades or bra strap length hair. I am so happy if I see unexpected a woman with elbow length hair.
I think in an idealized world everyone is responsible for his own decisions and if a women don`t like her hair anymore she may throw it away.
In this reality I have my own long hair and it is longer as most of the women around me wear it so I have to look into a mirror if I want to see a long hair and this is really sad for me.
Diane, I like your comment about the marvel of us not being slaves to our hair. Hair is an inanimate object, and all too often people get swept up into strong emotions over such an inconsequential piece of matter.
Wolfgang, your appreciation of gorgeous hair is understandable. Unfortunately, your object of affection is always a possession of the individual woman wearing the style. It would certainly be a perfect world where everyone around us could appear exactly as we prefer them.
The problem with your appreciation is that, by the time most women have hair to extraordinary lengths, they have been growing for quite some time, and as people tend to do, often get bored with the style. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side.
You`re right, that some of these shows don`t have the best intentions, and some women aren`t ready for the haircut. But usually, the women are the ones who make the choice to go on the show. Often, I think the tears are not of sadness, but of an end of an era. A major life change is occurring, and often, uncertainty comes into play. But ultimately.. to go on one of those shows is a major decision. It takes time, and planning, and a lot of thought goes into the show. Most women have tons of time to decide to go through with things. And as Diane pointed out, the beauty of our society is that we are allowed to change our minds.. to cut our hair when we tire of long hair, and then regrow it if we so choose. Such are the dynamics of life.
Maybe in the future (or fantasies) women will be able to have natural hair to any length at any time they choose.. to cut out the growing step altogether..

Also Wolfgang I really wish that most men on the internet that really love hair give women credit. The women who chooses to grow their hair super long like Diane Witt has weathered of lot of ideas thrown at them and they made their mind that this is what they want. That is their change in life and they know what they want. Those women won`t change their mind by hearing the word cut or seeing talk shows. My firm opinion is to think that a woman is so fragile to the thought of cutting her hair after having it super long is out of this world. I find it very insulting and often find it coming from the fear of men who love long hair. Women know what they want. Just because someone has long hair and decides to cut it doesn`t mean she didn`t appreciate her hair. It was just her own decision in life. I guess the idea of women having their own thoughts might be a tough one for some men to accept. I find this fear from men screaming don`t say the word cut etc very much a turn off in life because Women know what they want. Women don`t need protection from this. Women are very strong in nature and can adapt to all kinds of weather in life. ( not picking on you directly Wolfgang)

Yes Wolfgang I would agree that it is tough to understand why anyone would have super long hair. I really can`t see that sort of thing in this climate for sure.
If they would throw it in the garbage someone else can catch it and give it to someone who needs it. What has this to do with a great heart?( Wolfgang)
Oh come on of all people you should understand this one. Lets take you for an example. You offered to pay for an airline for anyone that couldn`t afford to go to Vegas. That money would have come out of your pocket. It is not like you won a lottery ticket. You worked hard for that money and it would have only made you happy to help someone. The same type of feelings. When we pray for someone healing do we gain anything out of life? When people spend hours without pay for volunteer work do they gain anything out of life? To do something that we are willing and find out that our gestures would make someone else happy that is the biggest reward and gift from our hearts. That is exactly what we are suppose to do in life. To be kind to take care of our neighbors and love our families etc.
I think your sight of view is exact the one that justifies this shows and you share it with all of the people who give it the ratings for further continuations
Well Thank God for choices!!!!!!!!!! One day I will travel all over the world with a group of people to help the poor. That is my dream. That is my thanks for being alive and having choices . Does that mean it won`t be gift from the heart? Better think Wolfgang. We will have to agree that we will not reach an agreement on this.

it may be that the women are happy with their new style or not, I have no information about this. The statement with the tears I figured out from several replies on other boards. Maybe I have confused the shows. But then there is really an inflation of cut off shows.
I personally have seen Oprah shows on Germen TV and pictures of Maury Povich shows on the all cut off site.
"because I rarely seen a show that the women regretted their decisions"
From the Oprah show I saw I can say that the woman after the cut of her super long hair cried and said "I miss my hair". To get an objective estimation about the other cut off events it would be necessary to speak with the women some time after the cut, I am surprised that nothing like this ever happened.
<< It is clear that people who don`t take care of very long hair come to a solution that it isn`t a great deal and it makes only trouble, but this is not the only way how it can be seen. >>
"( Wolgang) Wow!! Sorry that this is silly. I find this statement way out there. "
Diane, what is "silly" and why it is "out there?".
I though I have made clear that women with super long hair are often completely isolated in their environment and they were told very often "why don`t you cut it?". And as all other human beings they try to be pleasant for their environment. It is often the environment that has problems with the super long hair. I conclude this from statements I have read over the last 1 and 1/2 year.
So I conclude that there can not be very much understanding for the super long hair. I myself know from discussions with co-workers that they often argued it would make too much trouble and they wouldn`t appreciate it. I never have find someone in real life who was similar impressed by super long hair as I am (exceptional "long hair meetings", so I conclude that most people don`t take care of it.
I think women with super long hairs are distributed randomly in a mostly short haired environment, and the same is true for men who admire it. After my opinion it would be better if this people could come together as to make compromises to the environment. And this could be done by TV.
"I guess I should have tape the show and send it to you"
I think I am not interested in this. I hate this shows or at least what I hear from them and this is my individual point of view. That`s why I am looking for douzen of years after very long haired women and it`s one of the things I appreciate most in physical appearances and this shows only present it for destroying.
"Most women when they decide something it is because they really want it"
That may be correct, but why to spotlight this in a nation wide TV? Are you sure that there is not a lot of money behind this? Only for the ratings it is worth to offer 100000 $ U.S. or more to each of the women, I don`t know if this is true but it is possible. If not they were at least spotlighted for some minutes and this may be the big highlight for them. Do you know if the women or if their relatives have consulted the managers?
"ON the show it wasn`t about locks of hair or children that have cancer but everything to do with change and it just happen that the women thought besides throwing their hair in the garbage can they can hand it over to someone that would actually appreciate it which in my opinion and others would find this a very generous gift of the heart"
This I don`t understand. If they would throw it in the garbage someone else can catch it and give it to someone who needs it. What has this to do with a great heart? First I conclude, if they after your opinion do something what they really want, they lose nothing but win everything and suddenly it is a generous gift of the heart.
On the other site if they really lose something why don`t they spend a few hundred dollar U.S. for extensions or wigs that are already available? This is nothing in view of the effort to reach a super long hair.
I think your sight of view is exact the one that justifies this shows and you share it with all of the people who give it the ratings for further continuations.
After all, I think we can not come to a common sense about this topic, our opinions represent emotional founded sigth of views that we don`t share.
