You're going to love that hair, Fina. I can't even begin to tell you how soft it is. Mine is still soft after a full week and I've washed at least 4 or 5 times already. It's shiny but not like Barbie Doll fake shiny.
freetress: very soft&silky, a bit shiny. I think its about the same in sheen as the PH. (maybe just a bit more shine, different colors seem to shine more)
ebonyline: no shine (dull in comparison) a bit coarser feeling but still very silky looking.
So far all of the synthetics seem about the same in thickness to me. Or not much difference. Its hard for me to describe the texture, it definitely feels different than human hair. As far as looks, I think the the thermofibers that I have bought and the PH all look really soft and silky, and I dont think the average person would ever know that its not human hair.
Amm the witches broom about descibes jumbo braid perfectly! LOL. Have you ever felt that stuff? Or tried to use it? Its aweful! Other than braids I dont think it has much use. I didnt even like trying to braid with it. Its a tangled up nightmare! I had never seen any jumbo braid that can be curled before like in that link you posted. Thats a first but I still think Ill stay FAR FAR away!
yeah like you said, the nice thing about synthetic is that its so inexpensive. At least youre not out of a small fortune if something ends up being crap!
I just ordered THREE bags of 613. . .am having it overnighted so I can have it in time to take to Atlanta with me on Thursday !!
I'm going to mix it with the #27 from Hair Sisters, perhaps a little #4 if it isn't too terribly dark, and a bit of PH here and there. . .
Oh that poor extensionist. . . she's doesn't know what she's in for!!
And yes, synth hair absolutely ROCKS because it's so inexpensive. . .I can't tell you how HARD it was every time I took out that Great Lengths hair, knowing I paid a fortune, to just see it in a pile on the floor. . .
Amm- yeah, the kanekalon jumbo braid can take heat- it likes moist heat best, bubt you can also blow-dry or flat-iron it straight.
With synth, it's important to remember that fiber and texture are two separate things. There's regular jumbo braid, which is good for nothing but braids and doesn't respond to any heat aside from melting entirely, and then there's kanekalon jumbo braid, which does respond to heat- mostly, it can be shaped with heat. That's why it's good for dread-making. (I also wore some of it as a ponytail hairpiece the other night when I was in-between extensions- I just blowdried it straight and it looked like slightly coarse normal hair.)
And then there's kanekalon silky, which is both straight texture and heat-styleable, and also that KK silky wave stuff from hairpiece, which is the same thing with a wave texture. And then there's monofiber, which is finer and softer and also blowdry and flat-iron-able. Dunno about curling irons yet; I'll check that in a few days, but I would assume those are okay too.
