QuoteReplyTopic: ordering perma tips Posted: March 07 2005 at 4:17pm
Does anyone know where I can order perma tips (like those offered from Mark Barrington?) I need a full proof non damaging method - I took out fusion extensions last week my hair is so damaged I had no choice but to redo using shrinkies.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, can you order from M.B without attending one of his classes? Can anyone here order for a fellow DIYer? An alternative would be great since I would like to order hair this week and put it in over the weekend if possible.
Go to this site. The info is there to fax them your licens and then you can order color ring and get price list. The ones you want are under theatrical and are called EZ Plugs. I just faxed mine today! www.extensions-plus.com

Bridget right site wrong page thats all . The site is http://hairbond.en.ecplaza.net. I have e-mailed them but you have to deposit in bank in china and it just sounds like a pain so I went to the hair stor I deal with and they are going to get it for me they loved the shrinkys in my hair!!!! They allso called bohyme for me and found out they have pre tipped hair and a stick called U-Bond so you can pre tip youself suposedly this is diferetnt than mega and keritin they are getting me samples so I will know more latter. extensions plus dose not carry shrinkys
I'm not sure that EP's "EZ plugs" are the same as MB's Perma Plugs. Are EZ plugs the shoelace tip plugs? If so, they are not perma plugs and will not stay in the shrink link very well. (At least for my they didn't) I tried to use regular shoelace tip plugs with shrink links, and they shed like crazy and came out.
I'm going to call MB today to place an order, and I'll ask if the EZ plugs are the same as their Perma Plugs. I really doubt they are the same, seeing how MB likes to keep a tight control on the distribution of their product.
What do you have to do to place an order with MB? I would like to try his version of shrink links? Metalgirl, would you mind ordering for me if I can not place an order directly?
when I called EP they said they had the perment tip and I asumed EZ was it. they are sending a price list. But I think I will call tomarow and make sure it is. I put the hair from short to long in my shrinkys and so far so good I'll be bumed if it sudenly falls out
By the way I allso e -mailed doctor locks and asked them to try and get smaller diamiter shrinkys . I told them I can get them in china but would rather get them from them. Maybe some of you could allso make the request I would think they would want to know what we want to BUY!
Sorry, but I can't supply you with any shrink links. I signed a contract with them saying that I would not distribute their products. In my opinion, the shrink links is the best strand system on the market, and I would not want to jeopardize my relationship with the company by violating that contract.
I asked MB today if the EZ plug was the same as their perma plug, and they said it was not the same thing. However, whatever the EZ plug is might work with shrink links, you'd just have to try it out.
I spoke to EP and got some one more informed on the phone she said no EZ is not the same it is stick hair to use with glue or metal rings.I may have to find some way to get to that class. Metalgirl you arn't having any problems with these? I just dont want to be taken by yet another class that gets me know where. Any info would be welcomed,Thanks
I love, love, love the MB Shrink Links system. I think it's the best strand system. The hair ( Indian or European) is from Extensions Plus, and it is always top quality.
The perma plugs make the hair reusable and I don't have to fool around with pre tipping. The perma plugs stay in tact, no shedding.
The MB shrink links always shrink down to the proper size very easily, they are not inconsistant in their shrinking like the dr. locks ones are.
If you clarify the client's hair with dish soap before applying the extensions and heat each link for 8 seconds , then the extensions stay in the hair without a problem for 12-14 weeks.
Providing that the client did not let their hair get matted, removal is easy. Just reheat the shrink link and the it slides right off. There is some residue left behind on the natural hair, but MB has a residue remover that you rub on the hair with a cotton square and it cleans up nicely.
I've tried a lot of extension systems in the last 14 years, and this one is the best. The money for the class is money well spent.
Amanda, I took the course a few weeks ago and I think MB is only in the US at http://www.markbarrington.com 11275 Sunrise Gold Cir. #L Rancho Cordova CA 95742 tel:800.755.4247 or 916.859.0865 fax:916.859.0862
Its flipping typical that I won't be able to get the shrink links over here (bummer). I might start asking my clients to wash their hair in dish soap then. Is there any particular brand that you use xxx

I haven't done a client yet so Metalgirl could fill you in with what see uses but I think any dish soap would do. "Dawn" or something,............. in the UK "Fairy Liquid"(they still make that stuff?)
Another lady at the class recommended using Aveda's Clarifying shampoo (3 times).

My clients sometimes travel to me from quite far away so they don't have time to wash their hair in the morning before they come. Would it be ok for them to wash their hair the night before with either fairy liquid, is that just washing it once with that? or 3 times with the clarifying shampoo xxx

They would have to wash 3 times with fairy as well Amanda. I suppose they could wash it the night before but they would have to put NO other product's near their hair!! Very important!!
Tell them also to dry their hair as straight as they can, this will make application much easier for you in the long run, even if they have curly hair. You will style afterwards.
