I AM SO SORRY TO EVERYBODY WHOSE TCP HAD A DEFECT! I REALLY HOPE THAT DOESNT HAPPEN TO MINE. I JUST ORDERED IT AND I AM EXPECTING IT IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS!! TO EVERYBODY OUT THERE WHO IS SO SHOCKED THAT THE TCP DID MALFUNCTIONED LIKE THAT, U SHOULDNT BE. HONESTLY, EVERY BRAND OF FLAT IRON HAS HAD PROBLEMS FROM MY RESEARCH. I WAS GOING TO GET THE CHI BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE SAID THAT THEY BROKE IN LESS THAT 6 MONTHS. BUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD THEIRS FOR YEARS. I TRULEY BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD JUST TRY OUT THE TCP, AND IF YOU DO HAVE A DEFECTIVE ONE, JUST REMEMBER THAT IT HAPPENS TO A LOT OF THE TOP OF THE LINE FLAT IRONS AND IT DOESNT MEAN THAT ALL THE TCP'S ARE MADE CHEAPLY. AND TRY TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF YOURS IS BROKEN. I HOPE THAT I HELPED SOMEBODY!! PLEASE EVERYBODY, KEEP POSTING YOUR REVIEWS, I AM VERY INTERESTED!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sooooooooo sorry to hear about the "horror story" people ... actually burned off your hair???? OMFG I would DIE ... I hate to say this but, I'm soooooo obsessed with my hair and now I'm scared out of my mind that over time my iron could malfunction. I am going to be VERY careful and attentive to ANY out of the ordinary smells or heat changes ... I am SHOCKED at what I have heard. I am feel soooo bad for you guys ... and the TCP reps have some nerve to "not back their product."
So far everything is GREAT with my TCP ... my hair stays beautiful ALL day long which is soooo weird to experience. I teach phys. ed in an elementary school and my hair is usually all puffy from sweating but ever since I have been using the TCP I have NO problems like that anymore. At night I attend college and I take phys. ed courses and by the time I get home my hair still looks like it did in the morning. I am so satisfied with this product.
For anyone who's looking to buy it I would say that you should be very careful when you first use your TCP considering some have been defective.
Also, the pre-styling spray it comes with isn't really helpful for people that have naturally straight hair like myself ... It seems like hairspray to me to be honest and I don't use it at all anymore ... but the shine spray is great--just be careful to not pump out too many sprays because it can make your hair look greasy.
Lastly, the claim that it doesn't burn the scalp when you get really close is false ... I have definitely flinched from the plates getting too close ... but that's pretty minor ... maybe I'm not angling it right or something ... I'm still a novice--I've only had it a week.
Please keep posting about your experiences ... I am so interested in hearing other peoples testimonials.
I just ordered the True ceramic pro last week. I haven't received it yet. I am an African American with thick wavy hair, that's very fine in texture. Normally I need to use a hot comb to get my hair straight. As soon as I step outside, my hair frizzez up like a lions mane!!! I hope this thing works.
A word to the wise. There are TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES SELLING PRODUCTS CALLED TRUE CERAMIC PRO!! The one I ordered had an infomercial and also has a website. trueceramicpro.com

I just received my True Ceramic Pro and I absolutly love it. My husband thought I was crazy to spend $120.00 on this item, but now even he thinks my hair looks great. When I would wash my hair it was always an hour long or more ordeal. I used Frizz ease serum and I would blow dry it using a comb attachment and then I would use my Revo Styler (which I like as well) to straighten my edges and give me some soft curls. Now that I have the True Ceramic Pro I can save so many steps and my hair looks and feels great in 15-20 minutes. It is so worth the money.
My experience is similar to yours - although it took longer than 30 minutes for mine to malfunction.
I ordered the TCP on 12/29 and received it on January 12th. I had no problem with the packaging or items received. I really like the carrying case, clips etc. I have long, relaxed, color treated hair and I usually wear it straight.
The first time I used the iron it was primarily for styling (flipping, curling etc.) vs. straightening it from it's natural state. I was thrilled with the look and feel of my hair.
When I used it to straighten my hair after washing it, I wasn't as pleased with the result. My hair didn't have as much body and didn't seem to be as straight when my stylist uses ceramic irons on it. However, it was still much better than other flat irons.
I was prepared to keep the iron and almost threw out all of my other curling irons UNTIL.... I brought the iron to my stylist's salon for her to check it out. I even asked her to plug it in and use it a couple of times on my hair to see if she could achieve the same result. She was very impressed with it - used it a couple of times and went back to using her own iron. In the meantime, my iron was still plugged in at the station. We both smelled something burning and tried to find the source. The iron had overheated and ceramic plates had come out of the plastic tongs because they had melted. I'm just glad we weren't using them on my hair at that time.
I could have gotten over that but I'm most upset about what happened when I called to advise Advanced Beauty Solutions about the problem. The flyer they send with their product indicates they want you to be totally satisfied with their product. However, when I called customer service, I was just told to return the product to them and they would either ship me a new one or return the money. I explained to them that the product had actually burned the countertop in my bathroom because of the overheating and they weren't interested. I also explained that I was interested in receiving another iron if they would be willing to make some sort of good will gesture because of the problem I had experienced.
Maybe this is just me but because of all the years I've spent working in customer service, I believe that a company should stand behind their product and be willing to make concessions of some sort if there is a problem.
I didn't want the product for free but sheesh! you'd think they would offer me a bottle of heat spray or some clips for goodness sake! Nope - it didn't happen! In fact, they were quick to point out to me that the warranty in the box clearly states that they were not responsible for anything that happened with their products.
When I asked if there were any other defects I should be concerned about before getting another iron - the representative said there was no way to know about that. The defects can vary greatly. When I asked to speak to a supervisor - the response was the same. When I asked for a manager, I was told that there was no manager available. There was no phone number to reach this manager but that I could write a letter if I so desired. Needless to say, I was extremely unimpressed with that experience. In addition, if I am paying close to $150 for an iron, I believe that a 6 month warranty is pretty skimpy.
I will be returning the iron and trying the SEDU I saw on folica.com. I liked the iron well enough but I don't have the faith in the people behind the product.
Ok, I bought this product based on all the great reviews on here. It took me about 3 weeks to get it. Not bad. HOWEVER...
There was a really negative review on here a few postings back from a woman talking about her daughter's hair being burned and then someone else mentioned their iron began smoking. Well, mine did the same thing as the above two.
I want to be fair because I know that there are some really happy people, but I want to share my story so others can hear the other side. My iron arrived today (which should tell you how upset I am that I used it less than thirty minutes ago & I'm already on here). I turned it on 200 which is a medium setting. (I've used irons many times so I'm familiar with what my hair needs to be set on). I actually started a lot lower than my normal ceramic irons.
Well, at first it was great. Exactly as everyone described. As I was finishing one side of my head I started smelling something. It smelled like a chemical. I looked at my hair & didn't notice anything. I laid the iron down and turned down the temperature because the smell was getting worse. Really I thought it was maybe the "newness" burning off. Seriously I did. You know how new curling irons & stuff kinda have a weird smell the first time you use them? That's what I thought it was.
I turned the temperature down as low as it would go and waited 5 minutes. The little light never started reblinking to let me know it was ready. Ok, I know this sounds stupid but... I tried it on a small piece of my bang to see if it was cooled down. Guess what...the darn thing immediately burned off my hair! Luckily it was a really small piece that I tried it on.
Ok, here's the important part. When I laid the iron down I noticed it was smoking a little. Now, on the DVD they show steam coming off the head when you straighten with the iron so I hadn't noticed the steam was actually coming from the iron. I looked really close at where the smoke was coming from and I quickly discovered the WHOLE TOP PLATE WAS MELTING OFF!!!!!!! No joke!!! As I stood there and watched, the darn top plate started totally detaching. The melting glue was what I was smelling when I smelled the chemical smell. Now remember, the iron was on the lowest setting during this. I quickly unplugged it and left it alone to cool.
Needless to say I'm returning it tomorrow. The good thing was, the iron started malfunctioning as I was finishing... however, remember I had only done half of my head so I had probably used it about 5 minutes.
Let me say, I thought the same exact thing as most people on here about the girl who claimed it burned off her hair. I thought "she must have had it turned up too high." Nope. That's not the case. My darn iron was just as bad as her's and trust me... the heat (which was on low) should not have caused the darn top plate to literally melt off!
I'm not going to badmouth the product because I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but I got mine less than one hour ago & I'm already writing this. That should tell you something.

I used to try to straighten my hair with a 1" Revlon curling iron for about 8 years. I get a better straightening affect with the TCP and my hair feels softer and appears less damaged than ever. But then again I condition my hair everyday and use a light spray conditioner as well so if I'm aquiring damage I'm not aware of it. :) I think as long as you keep conditioning, your hair won't ever look like straw.
To Miss Jill:
I think it took about 5 weeks to arrive if I recall right. The heat settings can be changed by temp. I started out low and not much happened, so I moved up the temp to around 200 degrees and have been pretty happy with that.
i just ordered the TCP Today!! i am so exicited!! the lady i talked to on the phone was very nice and explained everything to me very well!! She said that i would get it in about 2 weeks!! So hopefully thats the deal!! I really appriciate all of your guys reviews. they really helped me in deciding whether or not the get the TCP or not!! Thanx everybody!

I'm sort of wanting to buy theTCP but the cost is still a bit of a too much. I'm looking for an alternative, a much cheaper one. Has anyone tried the conair Ceramic straightener where it can be used on wet hair? I think it would be much more convenient since it saves time blowdrying my hair so I might actually buy it.
Dionysis6: I am so happy to here that you got great results! i was just wondering how long it took the TCP to arrive at your house. Also, how many heat settings does it have on it? I know it heats up to about 400 degrees and has adjustable heat settings, but are the heat settings like 1-10 or does it say the actual temp? Thanks!!!
I bought the True Ceramic Pro a few months ago and since then I use it every day.
Dionysis6 ... you said you use your TCP every day ... how is your hair from the constant heat of the iron? Do you notice any damage from it? I know the TCP has ceramic plates and ceramic minimizes damage but heat is heat and I would imagine that over time hair might lose its moisture. I have the TCP and I have used it once so far ... I'm really paranoid about frying my hair though and I'm not sure if I should or even COULD use it every day. I'm young and I don't want to ruin my hair for when I get older ... hair that looks like straw is not something I aspire to...lol. Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

I bought the True Ceramic Pro a few months ago and since then I use it every day. I watched the infomercial a lot beforehand, and price is never an issue to me, esp if there are payment installments. I love the product and my hair feels and looks so awesome. I like the sprays that came with it. The thermal styler seems necessary to use to get the smoothness and shape I want, so I ordered two bottles of that a few days ago. Since the iron took so long to arrive, I'm guessing the sprays will, too. The shine spray really works, too, and it's amazing how much prettier hair looks when it's not matte.
One of my favorite things that came with the kit is the big flat brush. I had used a large round blowdrying brush for years and didn't realize that a wide flat brush without perforations would do such a better job of getting my hair dry and straight. My hair tangles easily and is super wavy so I use a detangling spray, blowdry straight with the flat brush, and iron my hair flat. Altogether it only takes me about 20 minutes each morning and the style lasts the entire day. I think for anyone who would rather go with unmanageable hair than pay the cost of the iron kit really needs to try it. I can't imagine anyone not liking it. Even better, it comes with clips to section off pieces of hair while straightening, and a nice holder for everything. Inside, the bag is insulated so you can wrap it up right after you use it and store it in the bag. The morning before a trip I used it and packed it up right away in my suitcase. Also one of my favorite things about the TCP is the long thick cord with the rotating head. If anybody is still skeptical after all this I'd be willing to send you a pic of my hair before and take one of me after I've used the products.
All day long I run my fingers through my hair in disbelief that it could ever feel and look so good. Strangely enough the product arrived at my house a day I had taken off work, and the next day someone joked that I had taken the day off to get my hair done, and I asked "Why, does it look different?" and he said "I think it looks nice." I don't think that was a coincidence.
I'm most likely going to wind up keeping my TCP after the 30 days are up ... I have never experienced any flattener quite like this one and I'm completely satisfied. My only concern is paying 120.00 for an iron that has been previously used by someone else...if i'm going to pay that price I want a NEW NEVER USED BEFORE one. When I received my TCP I noticed that the box flap (where you open it) was bent like someone had opened it. I don't want a returned used one. Anyone come across the same thing or have the same concern? I wonder if I can call them and request a new one...I think it's pretty unfair to charge full price for something that has been used by god only knows how many other people.
I bought the ionic iron from Sally Beauty Supply last summer. It works well. It doesn't curl the ends of my hair, but it straightens it very well. Before I was using Conair and it claimed to be ceramic but it wasn't, it also damaged my hair. I bought the one from Sally because they said it was exactly the same as the Chi iron and I didn't want to spend $200.
I was wondering if anyone thinks the True Ceramic Pro is better than the Chi (or the Sally one). I liked the comercial so much I was thinking about ordering it.
I received my TCP on Friday and I couldn't wait to try it. When I opened it up, I straightened my hair and it looked beautiful...like the salon. As I've stated in earlier posts, my main purpose for purchasing the TCP was the resistance to humidity claim. So, in order to test whether or not this claim is true, I turned on the hot water in my shower...closed the door...let it steam up for 5 minutes...went in...shaked my head around...turned it upside down and shaked my hair out...I basically did everything to mess it up. When I stepped out of the bathroom I was AMAZED that i did not have ANY waves in my hair from the humidity...it stayed just as it was before I humidified it...lol. So, it worked with shower humidity...now I just hope we have a humid day out here in Brooklyn before my 30 day trial period is up so I can see if it will work for outside humidity as well. Wow...I can't believe I'm actually wishing for a humid day ... *shudders* lol.
Hey frizzled. I've never used it, but I was reading on another forum and a hair expert said that the Tourmaline irons were excellent. I would think that the thinner the hair is, the easier it would be to straighten it with a flat iron. But, I have been wrong before.
By the way everybody, I got my Maxiglide the other day and it's awesome! My hair was NEVER this soft and shiny and manageable when my stylist would straighten my hair with a round brush. The texture is probably 3 times softer. I'm sure I would have gotten the same result with TCP, but I'm glad I found this and it works. Good luck frizzled!
