Okay, when doing fusion with a hot pot or glue gun, and using keratin glue, do you find it necessary to purge with a fusion wand? I've been applying glue to the extension hair, attaching under natural hair and rolling. The keratin cools ultra quick when it touches my fingers, so I feel the need to "purge" and re-roll. I feel like this extra step saturates the glue throughout the hair more and allows you to make a cleaner/smoother roll. For me, the purging step has been necessary because the keratin cools so quickly. I'd reeally like to hear the experiences of others on this matter.
A quicker way to use fusion method imo, is to use a heat pad (finger protected) as if you roll while still very hot then you get the perfect bond. However if you roll with your fingers and are anything like me (need to let it coll down alittle) then this can sometimes affect the bond as it doesnt penetrate all throught the hair strands and can sometimes look tacky where it has stuck to my fingers. You then need to use the purger to fix this and tidy the bonds up which imo is just doubling your time really. by using a finger protector (silicoln pad) to roll then you can roll while still very hot and penetrate all strands and you wont need to purge and keratin is very light anyway.
(hope this helps)

Shel, I take it you part and section the hair off starting from the bottom and work your way up? How do you get those perfect sections? It looks like you're not leaving any loose hair between bonds. Do you find this minimizes tangling and dreads forming?
I tend not to leave any loose hair between bonds in someone with fine- medium hair and do a checkered effect on people with thick hair or lots of layers. Yeah i always start at the bottom and work my way up. The hair in the picture is standard HH therefore its very sparse at the ends and i found i needed to do this to make it look fuller however now with the bohyme and Raccon hair I dont need to do this as both they hairs fill out more.
Ive never had any problems with tangling in any of my clients with the method used nor dreads forming other than the time i used a certain brand of indian remi hair that done extactly that. I dont get that though as indian remi shouldnt tangle?? Must have been just rubbish hair.
I'd love for my bond to be really tiny Amm but i'm always scared that any smaller would be too much pressure and ruin the clients hair. A guy posted his web page on one of the threads and his work is stunning but can you really do bonds that small and not get any breakage? www.beautybymatt.com
I always do my rows without any spaces in between, I think it gives a far neater job xxx Here is a client where I'm showing before during and after photographs xxxx these are shrinkies fitted x
I thought yours were better than mine chick LOL. It depends how short the person's layers are on top, I went up to about 2inch from the part with this client xxxx
Thanks Amanda and Thanks Jenny. I had no idea that shrinkies looked like that in the hair. I pictured them like micro links but they are so different. I think i may try them

I never count the rows, I just keep going until I consider it thick enough. I can usually tell before I start if I'll need to put loads in or not. I do about 20 between the ears and then more higher up xx

Amanda, if you were to measure your sectioning, about how big is it? i keep hearing from people who section 1/4" x 1/4", but when I do that, my strands seem big and I could never fit 20 strands per row.
Shel, same question to you. I think my strands look closer to yours.
What do you think the differences are between smaller and larger strands, as in the pro's and cons?
To me, I feel like the smaller the strands, the easier the breakage, but the less noticeable, but the more you have to put in.
The larger the strands, less breakage, becomes fuller easier, a bit easier to spot, but less to put in.
Anyone else have an opinion on that?
FINALLY, about how long do your bonds measure? Seems like an odd question, but from the top of the bond (where the glue starts) to where the glue stops, about how long is that? Just curious to see how mine compare with everyone else's.
I'd say mine is a bit tinier than 1/4 x 1/4 but not much. I don't fit 20 on all my clients, it depends on the size of their head really. I still make sure I always put plenty of hair in each strand to take into account hair shedding. I always weigh up the size of the strand and the size of the section. When I'm tipping I usually tip half bigger strands and half smaller strands for when I get near the top. I did a full head of small the other day and it took me 7 hours to do a full head when it normally takes me 4 xx
