I have seen SURGE and MSM a couple of times in some of the blogs and I was wondering if anyone uses either of them.  If so, can you tell me how well they work and which one is better to use?

Hi Princess! I bought a bottle of Surge and never used it because I heard many bad remarks about it. Some suffered from burning and itching and breakage. I also take MSM which is actually a supplement for connective tissue. It's in powdered form. I purchased it in January and I can say that I haven't had alot of breakage and it did change my texture a bit (the curl was alittle looser.). I believe it works better because it's taken internally not topically (although many topical treatments works.). There are a few sites to check out for MSM, when I find it I'll post it here for you.

Yes it does. I've noticed a good increase in growth. I use to relax my hair every 3 or 4 months and I'm needing to relax it every 10 weeks or so now. I'm entering week 8 right now and I have a good amount a new growth. When I do relax again, I'll post new pics to compare how much it's grown.

I have been using Surge religiously (although not twice a day like the bottle recommends, that's just doin way too much) and have not experienced any itching, burning, or breakage as a result of Surge. I also make sure that I follow up with a moisturizer (ORS Olive Oil or S-Curl, or both) and a lot of it too. I have just finished the bottle (bought it maybe 2 months ago) and will definitely be buying another one really soon :-). Hope this helps...

i use surge and take msm.

with the surge i think it works- but i didnt know about the moisture thing, and i noticed on my right temple my hair BROKE!!

when i was about 1/2 way through my first bottle of surge, i bourght another one and filled up the 1/2used one with scurl spray and i use that on the ends of my braids. i use the full surge bottle(that is not mixed with anything) on my scalp and follow with WGO. my right temple is comming back again!

with the msm i notice that my hair has become alot thicker, but i am not using it as regular as i used to! ill start taking it again on a regular soon though cos i really did notice a difference

I believe Surge is a protein (someone plz correct me if I'm wrong) and a mild protein can be used daily as long as you are sure to amply moisturize. That may have been the reasoning behind your initial breakage. I am glad that the S-Curl worked though, I SOAK my hair with it. I'm not too concerned about how oily my satin cap or pillow are as long as my hair is staying attached to the roots :-)

Random side question, is Infusium 23 Leave-in (moisture formula) considered a proteing as well?

I have never heard of MSM, is it a supplement???

Yes! MSM is a supplement. Click on the link I posted for Princess1 above, it will tell you about a study done with it. It's the same MSM that I take. A 16 oz. jar was 17.99 and it instructs to take 1/2 tsp. once a day. So, it lasts a long time!!

Hahahahaha "my wild growth stinking head". Gurrrrllll, I ain't EVEN trippin off the way my hair feels (super oily) or smells (let's just say it doesn't smell Pantene-ish) with WGO, MTG, and everything else that I add to it! Oh well, what do you do cuz I sure won't be trippin when my hair is BSL, thick, and healthy!

Stores: grocery stores, drugstores, GNC, vitamin shoppe, vitamin world

Online: puritan.com

you can either get the powder form which i prefer or get the capsules. since you'll just be starting with it, start with a low dosage. maybe 1000mg

Thanks... I bought some yesterday from GNC... it was the power but in pill form - you know ... pull the gelatin coating apart and out comes the powder... 1000mg's. Is that still effective?

yeah 1000mg is effective. you can upgrade when you dont experience any side effects like breakouts and migraines and stuff like that. goodluck!
