Haircut Advice - A.S.A.P please

I am in the exact same situation. Every single day I contemplate cutting up to the shortest layer in a bob. I don`t primarily because my husband tells me not to. He wants hair. I also want long hair. Unfortunately, my hair has an old, bad perm on it. ANd it is sort of fine (although I have a lot of fine strands)

Is your hair healthy? Straight, wavy, or curly?

I think you may have forgotten option c-- cut it to one of the middle layers. This way you still have some length, while getting rid of some of the layering. This is what I may do.

Say, Bubble, why don`t you compromise? How about
getting your hair cut in an arch, so that it`s longer
at the back than in front, but the length graduates
from shoulder-length to whatever the longest
point in back is (making it clear to the stylist that
the arch should have the longest point as long as
possible?) Hope that helps get rid of the layers.

I think you should go with option b. If you don`t want layers then, you should cut them out. It may seem short at first, but in the long run it is much easier. BTW, shoulder-length isn`t really all that short. When layers are first cut, they can look good, but afterwards, tend to not look as good. Once your hair is cut, you can choose any length you want, & your hair will be all the same length & easier to reach. If you get it layered again it won`t do anything to help you solve the problem.
