maybe they dont put in the clip ins very low, I have no idea. This is really strange how clip ins are good and bonded wefts get tangled. I dont know just makin a guess

Ok,Wow I must have gotten lucky with the batch I got.I ordered the straight In color #5.I got color #6 which was way too light.I got it in 26".I cut off 2 inches. The hair felt considerably better after I washed it.I wear it as clip ins.The hair doesnt tangle any more than my own hair did when it was long.I expected it to tangle a little bit being so long. But it hasnt been an issue. The hair has stayed nice through washing. And it holds styling very well. But now I'm afraid to order any more thinking maybe my batch was a fluke.
LHD has used Rk clip ins and has had very little problems and you 2 amm andd the bonded wefts are the ones with the tangling issues.
does that seem like a fair assessment?
amm, how low do you place the clips in the back?
That's interesting to note that the issues have all been with bonded wefts. I'm not sure if that really matters or why it would. Has this been installed strand by strand yet. Anyone? Anyone?
I wear two rows in the back. I wear low (just above the nape and the next one goes just a level higher) on the days I want a longer style. I wear crown height and one level lower on days I want to wear shorter.
Here's my clips. I wear them every day and they hold curl like crazy. These pics are after 3 days wear even brushing through light spray and reapplying. They're still smooth and no bunching or matting around the weft.
Ok...some comparisons with my #22 RK. Mine does NOT hold curl well at all. The curl will fall out and be a large wave within a few hours. Unless I put in a really tight spiral to start with. Then I end up with nice curls like in my icon, maybe a little looser than my icon.
My hair does not look that smooth and silky at all.
This hair does not mat just at the neck area, it mats all the way down the length where it touches against my back.
Just out of the shower this hair is a tangled mess. The other morning even with a load of conditioner and products I was seriously worried if I would be able to untangle it, but I stayed at it and worked through it, but it was SCAREY! It took along time to get it untangled. (Now this morning after the biosilk in all night I didnt have this problem.)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! your scaring me! I was really hopin RK was going 2 b ok, I didnt know it was that bad. hmmm, Im still gonna give it a try and hope 2 get lucky w/ a good batch like amm and LHD.
Im thinking of trying a strand by strand method and see if anything is different, which I doubt but who knows?

Yes, but I tweaked them a bit. One has Color Charm Demi 10NG Lightest Golden Blonde combed through and I fingerpainted with Quick Blue bleach and 30 vol developer to make a few strands pop.

amm, do you like the hair overall for yourself?(if you didnt see that RK hair has had an issue w/ tangling obviously)
Yeah, inasmuch as it's working for me, it's not working for others. If I didn't read about the problems, I wouldn't have known any differently. Then again, I am not showering or sleeping with this hair in.

thats a good point 2. How often do you wash your clip ins amm? maybe washing the hair everyday causes dryness and eventually causes matting and tangling. just a guess tho.

Im sure thats a contributing factor. Besides the fact that I blowdry and curl too....Im sure those things add to the problem. Ive really cut back on how often I wash to try to make this hair hold out. Ive washed every other day at most. And Ive even worn this straight alot in a ponytail to cut back on my styling....and its still not helping much.
I just know with the MANY MANY bonded weft installs that Ive done in the past several years, the method has never caused a matting/tangling issue.

It sounds like the complaints come from folks wearing the light colors. I've been wearing 20" #4 for a month now with no problems. The weft doesn't shed because I went over it with gel nail glue before putting it in. I wash it every other day using old skool Nexxus Botanoil shampoo (diluted) and a fistful of Humectress followed by some Biosilk after towel drying which keeps the hair amazingly silky and bouncy. I always air dry it and it's dry in an hour or so. So far so good. No split ends. No shedding.
As far as tangling, the hair Kalika is wearing is 24" long for heaven's sake...of course it's going to tangle. My 20" could be considered "tangling" in that it has to be brushed two or three times a day, but it's hair after all - all long hair needs brushing. I haven't had any of the matting or dry hair problems Sherrie has reported, but hers is practically white blonde - pretty far from the hair's natural state. It makes sense that the further up the blonde scale you go, the more compromised the condition of the hair, especially this dark Indian hair. Unless it's Great Lengths hair, but that's a whole other Oprah.
That's just my 2 cents. This was turning into an RK bash, and in the interest of balanced reporting, I have experienced none of these problems. I feel it is very high quality hair especially given the price. In the past I've paid $200 plus for 4 oz of His & Hers cuticle hair only to have it turn into a split end frizz festival in 4 weeks, and the hundreds of dollars I've spent on unuseable garbage from hairpiece makes me want to scream. So to me, RK hair is a goldmine.
My experience is, again, with the RK dark colors, specifically #2 and #4, in 20" double drawn straight. I also have single drawn remy in the same colors for a future install but haven't done anything with that hair yet.
Perhaps the reason the curly is tangly and sheds is because its processed double, for the color and the curl? I haven't worn it so I can't really be a good judge, but Ive washed and conditioned it several time and I wound up with lots of tangles when it's wet and shedding. Every washing has been a chore to detangle and it's not even on anyone's head. My Rk hair is 26 inches. The 24 inch naturegirl I've been wearing is tight curly and it doesnt tangle ever. The difference in tangling between this RK compared to my naturegirl and some other odd and end indian remy I have experienced--really is noticeable.
So does nailglue work better than nailpolish for reinforcing wefts? Do you put the nailglue all the way across the back side of the weft?

Cherrycoke, I believe that NG hair is NATURALLY curly, one of the reasons it's so expensive and also why it behaves so well. RK's curly is permed, right? And 26 INCHES?! OMG how do you deal with that?! That is uberlong hair!
I go over the wefts with gel nail glue because when it dries, it's more pliable than super glue which dries rock hard. My stylist can't get her needle thru the weft with super glue so that's why I use the gel. Nail polish doesn't last very long in my experience. And yes, I put it along the entire length of the weft on one side, using the pointy end of the tube to push it into the weft without using too much glue. Only takes a couple of minutes and completely arrests any shedding.
I usually wear 24, I got extra in case I had to cut a lot of ends off. The hair I wear now is no trouble at all. It's 24, but it actually seems more like 22 to me. Next time I order with NG I'll be going up to 26. Can you use super glue on micro wefts too? Might be a good deterrant to keep my beautician from trying to stick her needle in my weft. NG gave directions not to put the needle through and I had to watch my beautician like a hawk. She must have little attention with hand tied wefts because she seemed to not believe me when I told her she needed to retie the ends. NG has very minimal shedding, but if you don't retie the ends the hair falls off soo easily.
Think I'll try nail glue next time.

That was not my intention at all, I was trying to make my point that I believe the problem is not with the install method, but with the hair itself.
I have repeatedly said that I think the lighter color is a big factor. I also know other colors other than the super light blondes have had better experience.
Ok once again my color is #4 and mine are strand by strand 1/2 shrinks 1/2 pro shells. I want to love this hair who wouldn't at that price but I have had to condition and oil the hell out of it just to make it some what decent. I think if you are ordering for yourself then you can take the chance but those of us with clients in mind must keep looking for that one true great bag of hair. The last thing I want is a client calling upset because she is having problems with the hair.

I know that, Sherrie...I wasn't refering to you in my 'bashing' remark. I only made reference to your probs with the RK hair just because it was so well described and documented, and you take into account the color issue and your styling (blowdry, curl) habits. Because of those things, you don't flat out reject all the hair as 'crap' - your experience has been such and there are probably good reasons the hair isn't holding up for you. Some people, on the other hand, take every possible opportunity in every pertinant thread to share their experience followed by the blanket proclamation that RK hair is, in fact, bad.
Personally, I don't care if people like it or not. I like it so far and I'll continue to buy it and save myself hundreds of $$ by not buying from EP. It was just the relentless complaining that annoyed me, so I told my story - a good experience.

Im really glad that some people are having better luck with it and I keep trying different products on it 'hoping' to find something that will make it more manageable for me. Ive solved the shower tangling problem, as long as I put some biosilk silk treatment on at night before bedtime, I dont have the tangling out of the shower issue. Now if I could just find something that would solve the matting issue during the day Id have it made! I also bought a professional curling iron that I can control the heat, and I can get curls that last much better! This may be just a case of finding what works on this hair. I havent given up yet!
