Does anyone know of a real good dentangler? The spray on ones for kids don't really work well on my hair.... I have tail bone length hair and it's wavy. I'm consdering of maybe going back to midback length hair since it sometimes takes me over a hour to be able to gently take out all of the tangles.
I use REDKEN Extreme antisnap. Its a leave-in conditioner. Its really nice.
I have long, permed (mistake, dont do it if you are considering it) now tangly hair. I have tried Paul Mitchell detangler which is good. But now i use Curl Vive (by Loreal, I think). Results are very good--just got a compliment today--and it is much less expensive.

It sounds like you may need more than just a detangler. Is your hair dry? What type of conditioners do you use? Perhaps your hair needs more moisture. Do you oil your hair (hot oil or otherwise) or do deep conditioning treatments? Keeping your hair well moisturized (but watch out for too much protein) can help reduce tangles.

I`ve heard very good reports about Beauty Without Cruelty`s detangler too. As my hair is coarse and less prone to tangling though I don`t tend to have much reason to need these products myself.
cowboy magic! it`s actually conditioner 4 horses but it`s safe 4 humans 2 :) it`s the best detangler i`ve ever used. it also gives ur hair a nice shine.

I use a Goody brand pick to comb it and just use my fingers to work through the really matted hair. I ususally braid it at night or if I don`t want more waves I put scrunchies down the length. I have wavy hair, so it`s always been tangly, just more so now since it`s long. I also have about 4-5 inches of past colored hair that I`m slowly trimming away. I see other women with long wavy hair and they can just brush it through and the brush just glides through it, they have to have a secret to preventing thier hair from getting tangled.
The only one I`ve ever bought was the Apple scented one for Kids by Loreal but I don`t remember if I tried it. I bought it for school to use on the manikins. But since you`ve already tried the kids ones this isn`t much help to you.
Before you get a big trim try a small one. Sometimes just getting a 1/4 - 1/2 inch can help. Thats only if you want to.
What tools are you using to get through the tangles? Are you using other products that could be building up and causing the tangles? What products are you using?
How do you wear your hair to bed and do you sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase?
Has this problem been more apparent recently or has this been going on for a long time?
Is your hair colored or permed at all?
What kind of water does your home have? Hard, Well, etc
And anything else you could tell us about your hair or your routines would be helpful.
