some advice please...

OK-this forum has prompted my own research and I think the shrink***s might be better than fusion.  Just went to see a stylist today (she happens to post on this board on occasion and is in Troy, MI) and I'm convinced that this is a better way to go because of shedding issues.  I'm only at week 2 with my install and lose hair constantly.  From looking at the stylists hair (she had shrink**s) and watching her brush it, there is no question in my mind.  Will keep you posted-my new install is 8/31.  Honey?  What did you end up deciding?

Hey Mokipono, I've tried monky barz too and I had a lot of shedding. That probably is one of the best glues out there...in fact I still have some sticks and the glue gun if you're interested.

I found that anytime you pre-tip there will be shedding. The only time I had no shedding with fusion was when I used his and her nail shaped pre-tipped. There wasn't ANY shedding.

The problem I had with his and her hair was the pre-tipped hair slid out after two weeks and I don't have oily hair. I was able to re-apply them and they would hold and still no shedding but after a month the hair was crap.

Hi Donutloose, thanks for the tip about using the right fusion glue, can you tell us the name? I've quit doing fusion all together for now, too messy, and doesn't hold well, I was using Monkey Barz. I made more money because my clients had to come back every few weeks for a touch up. I want to do the best work possible for my clients, even if it means a bit less money for me. I've switched most of my clients over to the braid and sew method with hand tied wefts. With any kind of actual hand tied weft there's virtually no shedding. I say that because I don't believe some of those tiny wefts are actually made by hand, they shed way too much to have been tied strand by strand made by humans. Please don't jump on me I said just a few, not all. I have one client who has been wearing the same blonde wefts for over 2 years. In my experience with fusion shedding I have found a lot of it has to do with the hair it's self. Some of the beautiful shiny hair has too much silicone coating, it's very hard to get the hair to stick with this coating. I never had much luck, even treating the tips with acetone first only helps a little. To get the bond to break down easily, and not as sticky the owner of  Monkey Barz told me to use a hand sanitizer ( the kind that doesn't need water) along with plyers, and removing lotion. It does work pretty well like that. Soooo Donutloose tell us the kind you like, I like the strand by strand attachment, I'll try just about anything, if it will work.

Donutloose - What type of keratin pre-tips do you recommend.  I've had some good ones & just plain awful ones too.  I can't do the pro-tac method. 

honey, the nail glue is used as a top coating over the tip to use with rings or shrinkies. It isnt going to be any benefit whatsoever to use with fusion.

Hi there, i would like to point out that not all fusion (or keratin) strand by strand glue is the same, there are loads of diferent types out there, i have had experience with some that are crap and the one i use now is fab, no shedding at all! normally the problem lies with the temperature of the glue if its too cool then its too thick and wont saturate all the hairs enough to get a good connection, also the very light blonds can be over processed and will just brake off anyway (especially 613!) good luck with your install tho x

I've had the fusion done the same way you did from two different stylists. They cut the hair from the weft and bonded it to my hair. Both times they shed completly out. I had bonds with only my hair in it. I couldn't believe all the shedding. This is the *ONLY* method that I've seen or heard of this type of shedding unless you have a weft that sheds, which it shouldn't. I called both stylists to ask why it was shedding so much. They both said they never heard of that.  Now that I know better, it was a bunch of crap!

If you really want fusion, get the pre-tipped hair in the nail shape. That doesn't shed but the bonds slid out after two weeks. It's too high maintainence IMO.

If  you want thick hair, go for the wefts. If you don't want to wear clip-ins, get the Liquid Gold or Protac. I would try protac first as LG boogers up after a few weeks.

I am having the same shedding problem with Fusion.  My stylist always pre-tips for me and I really don't have the time to do something like that myself.  Any suggestions?

i dont think i am going to be able to order the liquid gold and get it by thursday! is there anything else that i can use to pre-tip the hair???
