Wow! Have been wanting to know the same thing; I just love Moisturepac (and most other Artec stuff) but am worried about the cone in it since my hair is so anti-silicone, the stuff really does an awful number on it. So far it doesn't seem to bother it though. Was bummed to see they had added it into their new formula when I went to buy some new bottles awhile back.

Thank you so much for your info. You sure are helpful. I have used Sebastion before (the "Green Apple" shampoo). I liked that at first (we're talking 5 years ago)but then I felt like it was drying my hair. I might go ahead and try "Laminates". First I want to give ARTec a go.
honestly I have never used the ArTec smoothing line so I would hate to tell you anything about it. I can say that I doubt you have to worry about ArTec building up on your hair. They are a good line and I have not heard any problems with build up. Normally if you stick with a professional line of products you shouldn't have too much trouble. And if you don't like them, call your stylist and tell her/him.
I personally use and sell the Laminates line by Sebastian. I love the feel of the hair (and I use it on my double processed, then colored, then double processed, then toned, then double processed hair. Well I am a stylist and I get bored and color my hair a lot LOL) and it treats my hair very well. They have products to smooth and make the hair shine. Just an alternative.
Good luck.

Can I bother you for one more question? O.K., maybe more than one!:)
What do you personally think about the ARTec smoothing line Shampoo and Conditioner? Also, the ARTec Moisture Pak deep conditioner? I know that the smoothing conditioner has dimethicone but not one of the first five ingredients. I want to try this but IO don't want problems with dimethicone.
O.k., thanks again for replying and for taking the time to help.

Well thanks for the question. It's funny you should ask that because I have been reading Paula Begoun's Book "dont go shopping for haircare products without me" and getting irate at every turn of the page. She and I disagree on many points.
As far as silicones go, they are several types of silicones. Dimethicone is not a water soluable silicone and so it can build up on the hair. Some better choices are products with water soluble silicones such as cyclomethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone. Your thinking is somewhat correct as far as the placement of the silicone on the ingredients list. If it is farther down the list than fifth it contains very little of the silicone.
My information about this comes from the cosmetics ingredients dictionary. I think Paula's comes from her twisted view of "every ingredient is the same". She lumps every silicone together as one. She makes no mention of water soluble silicones versus non water soluble. She also contradicts herself on every single topic. I have been sitting with a highlighter and a pen making notes on every topic and then listing where in the book she contradicts herself. It is quite funny.
Hope this helps... and don't worry about buying Paula's book. You can do just find on your own.

I was wondering if you could give your professional opinion on something I heard about silicones:
I heard that if they are not one of the first ingredients, then you don't have to worry as much about build up. This is referring to ones that are not water-soluble. So if for example dimethicone was not one of the first ingredients on a label, should I still be concerned about build-up? Or maybe just only somewhat concerned, or not at all?
