HAIRLOCS - BALD SPOTS ALREADY - HELP!

I think if you do have damage it would be from the hairspray making your fine hair stick to the inside of the lock and then break (?) when she pulls the lock out.

Hairspray technically IS glue, spray glue in a bottle. I think some people with thick, coarse hair can probably handle it on an install, but not people like me and you...with fine, thin, bleached (me!) hair can NOT withstand hairspray w/o damage.

Leave in conditioner might help at takedown..and a spray bottle of water..to stop the hair from sticking and being really hard w/ hairspray that it would snap off. I know I can't even brush my hair w/ spray and not have breaking and damage, much less what it could do when stuck to a loc.

If you do decide to have anything in the future with this stylist, I'd ask her to leave off the hairspray. Yes, you may loose more locs and need them put back in an a month or so, but that's a small price to pay, IMO.

I have to echo what Sofiaone said. Go see Tangles. Let her check you out and find out whats going on.  The problems you have experienced arent typical or normal. Hang in there girl, but definitely get to someone else to get it checked out.

update: Well the stylist claims she did nothing wrong, has done over 100 heads and never had a problem with any hair loss AND she says she saw these short areas when she applied the locs but said nothiung becauce it is where she though I had had color strand testing cut off.

Now it is true I did have testing, but it was UNDERNEATH. I would never allow hair to be cut off from near the top of my head as I dont have a lot of fullness up there.

Apparently, she also revealed to me this is 1st in home service (she works regularly at a salon and was apparently trying to pick up some side work outside her area where she goes to visit her parents ( I am 2 hours away from her salon). She never told me it was her 1st home service and she didn't "expect" she told me to have to come after installatin more than once every 2months.
This upsets me because if you choose to do in home, well then, its no different than at your salon- you have to be available dontyou?
Also this didnt come cheap-
190 strands - $2000 plus $100 for the consult, and $100 for the products (which suck) and $100 for the in home charge (so really the install was $2200. And when I had her remove some of these strands, she took them with her! She said she would hold on to them in my file if I wanted them put back on. I didnt argue with her, but now I wonder? I mean I paid for them - shouldnt I keep the hair?
She now says nothing she does can make me happy or make me believe that it didnt cause hair loss...so she doesnt know what to do.
I dont know either - do I have her remove 1/2 of them and look and see and then let her put them back on - do I go to someone else and have them all removed (they want like $150 an hour)
I really dont know what to do. Obviously, she is either lying or truly believes herself, and I know I didnt have these tufts above my ears, so now what?       

Did you say she put hairspray on the hair before putting the lock in?

I am VERY gentle taking out the lock with the round part of the tool as to not smash it closed and then spray some conditioner (leave on) and slide it out. I'm not sure what the pros do, but that's what I do.

I would definitely go see someone else at this point! That shouldn't happen. Did it hurt when she took them out?

I THINK ( not totally sure as it was fast) that they had bent prons - I dont recall any holes.?

Dana- Please go see Tangles in socal (she is not too far from you). You and your hair will be happy. If you are unhappy with how your stylist removed ten locs, I would NOT let her remove any more. Go see Tangles....I haven't heard of any unhappy clients of hers and I doubt she would have any repeat clients if she damaged anyone's hair. (and she has tons of repeat clients!!)SHe is very gentle and makes sure your hair is well taken care of.
