Quality Hair? Bohyme? Extensions Plus?

Hi everyone! 

I'm hoping a can get several opinions & experienced hair purchasers.

I think I may have been spoiled.  I used to get my extensions done by a stylist I trusted in Southern California.  I always had my hair done w/ I-tip style locs.  Well I paid $8-$10 per strand, and have worn anywhere from 40-300 strands at a time.  So my first install cost me 4 grand.... but the hair LASTED!  The hair I have in right now has been on my my head for about 8 months and I can't really tell any difference between now and the day she put it in, except the ends are starting to get thinner from breakage.  But I use either a flat iron or curling iron on it at least 4 times a week and wash it every 2-3 days, so I don't think that's too bad.   It doesn't tangle much more than my own hair.  And it isn't brittle or anything like that. 

Well times have changed & I've moved to Texas.  I have a baby one the way & really can't afford to pay $1,000 to get another 100 strands of hair from my old stylist.  I thought I could just buy "Remi Hair" from anywhere and get the same quality stuff....but I am starting to learn that I can't.

So my question is:  Where should I go???  I've hear people talk about Bohyme...but it seems to cheap to be good.  Will it last a year?  I've never worn a "silk cap" or anything like that... would I need to? 

What about this place called Extensions Plus?   They seems to be at a price point that makes sense for quality hair.  But I'm confused by their website.  They don't seem to have very many colors available.  Has anyone bought custom hair from them?  Does it last?

I've also heard about Russian hair, but my stylist told me once that her hair comes from Indian temples...so I know that is what I want. 

Sorry for the very long post!!! Please help!  I'm willing to pay a fair price, but I want high quality hair that will last me 8-12 months or more.  Thanks for any reccomendations in advance!

Bohyme won't last you a year I think, at least that is my experience, but it is not as expensive as virgin russian for example. I am wearing 3oz of russian -from Krimsa's same vendor I believe- and 3oz of Bohyme and was surprised to see that my Bohyme is behaving a little bit nicer than my russian. It is only my personal experience, and also, my russian is blonde, so has been gently processed. Virgin unprocessed could be a different ball game.

Yes the Bohyme is nice hair and decent quality but I read online that it is a mixture of European, Asian and Indian hair and it is cuticle stripped. Its still very nice hair and it will last you about 4-6 months with proper care but Im noticing it is somewhat course and it dry out and I need to keep adding more and more conditioner product and now its to the point that I actually leave conditioner on it all the time and it drinks it like water lol.

But I would never say Bohyme is bad hair. It isnt. Its just not virgin. I would say Bohyme is the best., medium quality hair on the market you can find currently and by medium I just mean not virgin hair.

This might be your best option though if you're looking for virgin almost unprocessed long + blonde hair. Or brunette for that matter! Good luck!

Bohyme hair is also reasonably priced so you can keep swapping it out every few months without breaking the bank or feeling like you are getting ripped off. You will always get exactly what you paid for with Bohyme in my opinion.

No I wear brunette hair and I can wear Indian in 1B which is its off black natural color and have it look natural. Im a Caucasian with blue eyes but my natural hair color is a dark brown so I can pull it off.

Also if you get the Indian virgin, you can color it without destroying the quality as its virgin to start with. I dont know about going up to a blond shade however. That probably will shorten the life to lift so much color,

Check out the colored Remy hair on that site I posted to see if that would work out for you. That model is wearing a very light blond and thats Indian hair.

I think it really gets into a compromise. Pay a HUGE sum of money for true virgin Caucasian hair like Russian or else use Indian Virgin which may not match your texture exactly but you will get the long wear, soft tangle free hair.

Virgin=long lasting but probably not lighter shades as easily.

Hi lostgirl.  What we all have discovered is different hair works for different people and what each person is trying to achieve.  I personally didn't care for the Bohyme I found it to be dry and a little thicker strand than I like, not as light and fluffy as my own hair  (personal opinion only )   but I also think a little goes a long way where as the European does take more to get that really full look...    I  personally don't want to have to use product and curl  it to make it blend with my own hair. 

Yes Bohyme is much courser than the  European,  but it  does go a long ways!  both photos have the same number of wefts but clearly the top is much much thicker...  I personally love the feel and ease of the European hair, although I do love the thickness of the Bohyme..   Also I have gotten hair too fine as well.   it would take way to many wefts for what I like installed  to have as thick of an install as the Bohyme, so needless to say it's a tricky balance that I'm slowely learning

Cool but tape scares me a little. I think I want to stick with the traditional sew in. But if I was good with using tape methods, I would try that. I like the longer wear time and security of a sew in.

Im looking at the hair trader site and there is a lot of nice hair but does that site have any way to put in a "search criteria"? You know like say you only wanted to view hair 22 inches or dark brown?
