Your /inquiry/ was removed? That doesn't give me warm fuzzies. What's up with that?

Hey Ally - I can't haelp you there either, I am in the dark too. I logged in a day or two after the boards came back and asked what happened. My inquiry was removed....

I'd brave your bitter Michigan weather if I could get highlights for $25! ;)

I hope this isn't an indelicate question, but I really am in the the dark: Can anyone tell me why Hair Boutique was shut down? I read Karen's message, but what was the abusive conduct that led to it? Her message seemed to assume that we all knew what she talking about.

I was pretty stunned, because I wasn't aware of problems, especially on this forum.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your responses. It's good to be back. I've been pretty busy the last couple months and have gone through some...let's say "intriguing" personal situations but not to worry---all is well. I was shocked the day I logged in to find HairTalk GONE, but I am happy, as I'm sure you are, to find it's back and at it again. I hope everyone is enjoying this fine Wednesday. Here in Michigan it is so cold and snowy that I couldn't feel my face on the way into work. Who needs nerve endings anyway?

Getting rig of the U shape... I personally like that... in fact the "U-ier" the better IMO. A girl at my gym had a blunt cut WELL below bra strap length and got a U shape in the back... the next week she got highlights and changed the U to V that mirrors the shape her back makes as it falls to her waste...HOT!

Good to have yoo back!

Lyris - Bonne Chance Mademoiselle! I know your fear. I had an appointment in December and i was really nervous the whole week before. All went well as I think I scared the stylist into paralysis. She trimmed the minimum and manages to coax out the Courtney cox layers I had been waiting to grow my hair long enough for.

I think what you want to do is give her is a benchmark length(pick a strand that is the length you want her to use as the base) and then ask her to take that length all the way across. It is a blunt cut.....but specify the length since blunt cut has many lengths to it.
Sophie? lIlibeach? Toni?

If you want it cut straight across that would be a blunt cut , as far as I know. :)

Hello dearest HB friends! I've been MIA for awhile but I thought I'd let you know that for the first time in three years I will be visiting a salon for a hair cut. Now, I've been growing my hair out for many, many months now (several inches below the shoulders currently and nearing my desired BSL.) Actually it's about the length of my hair in the icon to the left. I trimmed my own hair before that.

Unfortunately, my ends look awful, and being an incurable perfectionist I can't stand them looking like they went through the office paper shredder. So I shall be getting a one-inch trim. Hate to lose the length but I'd rather have it be neat.

Anyway, it's been so long since my last salon visit that I had to search for a good one. I met a girl working at a local mall with the most artfully done highlights I'd seen in a great while. She told me this place only charges $25 for highlights and cut and does fantastic work. Which is true, judging by the result. So I made my appointment with the owner for early February, as I'm not quite ready for the salon experience yet. That and I'm a master procrastinator.

One thing I want to ask the stylist: I would like to have the back of my hair cut fairly straight across. Currently it is all one length but falls in a U-shape down my back. Sophie, Lilibeach....anyone else know a technical term for this so I can sound educated and cool?

I hope 2004 has been a glorious year for all of you thus far.
