Clare--Mine is a couple of inches past my shoulders in back--shorter on the sides. Because I've been growing out some ugly layers and even uglier damage, it's been a slow process.Worse, I'm torn between the thick-looking perimeter that comes with a blunt look and the body and movement that comes only from a layered look.Where do you stand with yours?Best,Ally :)

I know how this feels! And I heartily second all Allys excellent advice. For fine hair with a tendancy to go limp, long is such a great way to wear it, its simple, versatile and looks wonderful. Its also really easy to put up since its not too bulky. Try some updos while you're growing it out, a nice twist or French braid, or some nice barrettes to hold up a section of the front in a little swoop for some fullness. The longer it gets the fuller it will feel, with more body and life. If your hair feels oily, wash it more often but don't wash the ends, just about down to your neck, then condition, condition, condition from that point down. And Allys right, fine is hair is easily damaged by styling techniques that employ heat so try to avoid them altogether. Watch your diet, take your vitamins and always cut your hair when the moon is right. Some people think it doesn't matter, but it sure can't hurt! Most of all, be patient, shoulder length is the worst in between time but once it gets to bra-strap and longer its a joy, really.Good Luck! Keep the faith!Best wishes to everyone!Dawn

Jade--I'm growing out my fine hair too. I've found that blunt styles are best--no layers except for some slight graduation around the face. (You don't want to take too much from the bulk of the hair.) Also, I get frequent(monthly)"duster trims," which skim less than an eighth of an inch from my ends. This is important because fine hair splits so easily. For oily fine hair, wash it daily, but dilute your shampoo with water and concentrate application on the scalp only. The entire length of your hair won't benefit from frequent washing. I have really fine hair that I'm trying to grow out. It has a tendency to be oily, so it gets limp really easy. I need a suggestion for an easy style and some products that might help deter split ends
