I really liked the ones around my face and received loads of compliments at work. Someone actually told me I "looked sexier than hell with my hair that way!" I only lost a couple inches if that on total length and that was counting the fact that I probably needed a trim. The next time I got a trim she cut more long layers in the back and I think that for my very straight hair, less was better. I think it looked a bit thinner on the bottom, and it was harder to catch all the ends when I felt like rolling it. However it will be easy to remedy in the next couple of trims. Well anyway that was my experience with layers. I know it is hard to decide if you've had long even hair most of your life. Good luck!

My hair is long and straight (to my bottom). Recently I've decided that I wanted a haircut. I want my bottom to be cut into an curved smile, like oval. I was thinking of layering the bottom. I have heard many people do it but what exactly does it mean and is it possible for my hair. Is it supposed to make my hair look fuller and thicker on the bottom? Please someone help. Also do you long haired people think that this haircut would look cute?
