QuoteReplyTopic: Some recent <<pictures>> of my hair Posted: August 12 2006 at 11:01pm
Hey there,
I thought I'd share a few of my most recent pictures since it's been a few installs since the last posted about my hair.
Right now I've got a mix of everything packed in there almost like a nicely planned out vegetable garden- LOL. I've got D-LUX keratin tips, two short glued in D-LUX wefts, some Bohyme that I installed with some new fusion chips I'm trying out and a two new types of keratin tipped hair. I guess you could say I'm mulit-tasking with my comparisons. All the hair is 22" but I cut about 2" off the bottom and layered some of the hair around my face. Let me know if you have any questions. Sometimes my PM acts funky so if you need to email me anything please do so at Info@YourHairShop.com
I've got some clip-in M2/33 pieces in this first picture:
I'll post a few more pictures shortly, I'm just waiting to get them from the photographer
Wow! You look gorgeous!! Is the hair silky straight or is it body wave? And pleeeaaaase keep us informed about the new keratin you tried... .
Can you give us some tips how to do fusion by yourself?

Thanks for all of your compliments . I put in random amounts of the different types of hair so I don't know exacty how much is in there. All together my best guess would be about 3- 4 ounces. I used to have to install about 5 ounces right after my breakage but my hair has grown out a lot so I don't need as much. I've got 40 pieces of the D-LUX keratin tipped hair in colors #D8A/14B and D5/14 and the rest was all done in #613. All the hair is silky straight and then I curl it with a curling iron. I find that even if I buy curly hair I always end up re-curling it to get the curl I want so It makes no difference to me to install the straight hair. Here's a picture I posted in a past thread showing how I curl it:
I do not use the lever on the iron at all. I simply point the curling iron down, place it about 3 inches away from my head and wrap a section of hair around it. Start wrapping the hair closest to the scalp so the ends are the last to be wrapped. See how I'm holding the end of my hair in my right hand? I find that leaving the last inch of hair out of the iron it helps give it a more natural curl vs. a tight spiral curl. I also wrap clockwise on my right side and counter-clockwise on my left (away from my face).
I installed everything on my myself, even the back. I use mirrors which helps A LOT. Below is a picture of one of my last installs. I've got a large mirror on the wall and then a small hand-held mirror that I hang from the ceiling. I took this picture facing my large mirror and you can see my little hanging mirror behind me in the reflection. I was working on my last row of that install which you can see in the small mirror.
So far my shedding has been normal (just a couple hairs when I brush it). I've only had this in for about 2 weeks though so it will take a few more weeks to really know how good the new bonds are. I wash my hair once every 3-4 days and use the Purology Hydrating line of shampoos and conditioners on it which helps keep it looking and feeling lovely.
I'll let you know how I like the new bonds I'm trying... I'm always on the look out for bigger-better products. I appreciate any feedback you have for me on any of our products so that I can make changes when necessary. Please email any feedback to Info@YourHairShop.com so I am sure to get it. If you have any new product ideas I'd also like to know about them too
If you have any more questions about my install fire away
Kristin, you say so far your shedding has been normal, just a couple of hairs? Unfortunately my shedding is FAR from normal. I get brushfuls with every brushing. And random stray hairs shedding all day long. I really really hope this shedding slows down. Ive wore hair before that shed alot for about the first week and then just sort of stopped or slowed down to a minimum, hopefully this will be the case with the Dlux. I dont want to put this hair down, or make it seem bad, because it is very pretty hair and holds curl beautifully, but the shedding so far is nuts!
Kristin, I love the color of your hair! Wish I could be blonde like that... .
Anyway, I saw your mirror set-up and that makes sense, but is it easier to install microrings by yourself or fusion? How do you keep from burning scalp and fingers? I really want to learn to do this... I love being creative and I feel a little lost here. [:s
Sherrie gave me good info on pro tac, but I'd really like to continue with strand by strand... .

Wow Kristen! You are stunning! Hey, you mention you have two small D-Lux wefts glued in. Where on your head are they glued in, how long are they, and what type of glue did you use?

Wow...that really does look awesome! I just had my D-Lux installed ( 22 inch) last week with the pinchbraid method...so I can say that I do not get ANY shedding with that method. I love my pinchbraids.... However, I am not used to straight hair at all...and I hate the way it looks without curling it. I read somewhere that this hair is somewhat wavy when it dries...but not my batch, at least-- It is surely straight! My own hair is shoulder length and fine/wavy...so my layers seem to poke through when this hair isnt curled. I am the lead singer in a band so when I curl it, it doesnt last through the end of the night with the hot lights and me sweating bullets. I am trying to figure a way to make the curl last...any suggestions at all? I curl it with a tourmaline curling iron and it looks lovely as long as I don't get on that damn stage! Would hot rollers hold longer? Maybe a setting lotion will help?
Sherrie- I installed them with Liquid Gold so I don't know if that bonding method makes any difference or not. You've installed with Liquid Gold in the past so you may know- does the glue change anything to do with the shedding? I've only got two strips of the wefts in which are each about 4" long so I'm no where near the 12oz you've got installed. I would assume that the more hair you have in the more shedding you would encounter but if you're having a lot as you say this would not be normal. I just parted back my hair to just reveal the wefts and I put my fingers through them checking for shedding and I'm finding that the cut ends are giving off a few hairs... should I have sealed the cut ends with nail glue? It's been a long time since I had wefts in so I forgot to seal the ends. Did you seal the cut ends? btw, what were your results with the free full pack of 18" #613 on weft that I sent you a couple months ago? I sent it to you free of charge so you could try it out before you bought any hair from us and I was assuming that you must have liked it if you ordered more. If you found them to be different please let me know. I sent my distributer an email last night with some questions about wefts and shedding so I should hear back shortly. Please keep me posted Sherrie
Nikkie- IMO the microlinks are the easiest of any of the extension systems especially when you are doing them on yourself. I like the microlink sysytem but as I'm sure you know it's normal to lose a few while you wear them. Although it's really easy to pop them back in I prefer the fusion because it's rare for me to lose any bonds during wear. The first couple fusion pieces I install in the back of my head are always a bit awkward but then I get used to looking in the mirror and it's smooth salin' after that. Always use a template when installing fusion so you don't burn your scalp. I always move really slow at the start so I can tell when I'm moving my wand in the wrong direction- this helps me to avoid burining my fingers.
msfitnes- that's awesome! Do you have any pictures of your hair? I use a 1" connair silver curling iron (shown in one of my above pictures) and it works great. I will usually curl my hair after it's washed and it stays curly until I wash it again. The curl that was in my hair in the first pictures above were actually curled the day before these pictures were taken. I touched up about 4-5 curls around my face that were my natural hair but that's it. Oh, the dark clip-ins were new though so I curled those right before the shoot.
Thanks, Kristen. I will take some new photos tomorrow when I wash and style again. I think the problem is the profuse sweating onstage....and I mean SWEATING. I am drenched and so is half my hair by the end of the first set! So my natural hair starts to curl and "pouf" while the extension hair gets straighter! * UGH!* Everyone tells me it looks great...so I am probably the only one so critical of it...I have never worn hair this long either..so blending was a bit more challenging. I have alot of fine layers. I am trying to figure a way to make it last onstage...do you use any styling product before you curl?

thanks for your response Kristin. The 18 inch is on my head now along with the 22 inch that I purchased. The 18 inch was not long enough for my length nor enough hair with 4 ounces to do a full install, and that is the only way in my opinion to get a true test. Im just NOW finding the time to test your Dlux
You shouldnt have to seal the ends of machine wefts. And yes LG will help a little with shedding but its not the cure. It wont stop excessive shedding. Its only been a week, so the shedding may stop or slow down. But it is def. an issue in my opinion.
When I wear Bohyme it usually sheds like a big dog for about the first week or two, and then stops/slows to a minimum. So that may be the case with this hair.
I recommend that anyone who uses Bohyme to seal the wefts, the entire weft with Aleenes Stop Fraying. Its an easy fix honestly, and a small price to pay if you find good quality hair. Which is very difficult to find in the lighter colors.
So even with the shedding that I am experiencing, I still like this hair so far. It looks good, curls well and holds the curl which as BIG PLUSES in my book!
