both. I use a little more on human hair though because it soaks it in unlike synth where it just kinds sits there.dont put it all over your hair, or it'll look kinda greasy, but just the nape should help.

I go over the wefts with gel nail glue because when it dries, it's more pliable than super glue which dries rock hard. My stylist can't get her needle thru the weft with super glue so that's why I use the gel. Nail polish doesn't last very long in my experience. And yes, I put it along the entire length of the weft on one side, using the pointy end of the tube to push it into the weft without using too much glue. Only takes a couple of minutes and completely arrests any shedding.
hey syren,
sorry if this is a repeat(I promised I searched in the forum for the answer). Where do you get the gel nail glue? Regular nail glue isnt gel right? Sorry if this is a stupid question, it just sounds like a good idea for shedding. Thanx in advance

I got it at a neighborhood BSS, but I'm sure I've seen it at Sally's also. It will be right there with the regular nail glue, but it says 'gel' on the bottle/plastic tube thingy.

Hi everyone! Well I have read this rk hair post and I will tell you about mine. I ordered colour single-drawn, colour#27 in 26 inches and ended up cutting off abit of the length and glueing strands in a single row across the back of my head. I have experimented with many different types of products (expensive/inexpensive)and I will tell you the best way I have personally found to make the rk feel soft, shiny and not tangle.
1. Only ever order REMY (with the cuticle - not hair that has the cuticles stripped off in an acid bath) SINGLE-DRAWN HAIR!! The double drawn will tangle because the cuticles are going in opposite directions! The single drawn, all align in the same direction - just like the hair from your own head.
2. If possible use the STAND BY STRAND method and NOT the weft method. I assure you the tangling will be dramatically minimised by this alone. Also we all definately believe the lighter the hair the more processed. Therefore the longer the bleach is left on to lift the natural colour, the worse the hair quality. Also, poor quality bleach would literally suck the protein molecules and moisture out of the hair. We don`t know the kind of bleach companies use. It is logical that darker shades would look and feel better quality wise.
3. DILUTE your shampoo with water and add some olive oil into it and shake it thoroughly before you wash. Place some on the scalp area, massage with your fingertips (just the scalp area) and let the rest wash through the extension hair when you rinse it out with warm, NOT HOT water! Add olive oil to your conditioner and mix thoroughly. This is absolutely fantastic for extension hair. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair, slap on the conditioner liberally, comb it through with a wide tooth comb, cover with a shower cap and leave on while you shave, clean your teeth, whatever. Then rinse out with warm or better still cold water. I always make sure that a little of the conditioner mix remains in the hair instead of rinsing it totally out.
4. NEVER EVER BLOWDRY EXTENSION HAIR!! I repeat never! Heat will slowly kill the hair to the point of no return! Buy one of those special hair towel turban thingies that you wrap around your hair after blotting (never) rubbing. Keep on till it has absorbed alot of the water. Then after you take it out just leave the hair without touching it with a comb to air dry. You may separate it with your fingers but DON`T, DON`T, DON`T brush it until it is COMPLETELY DRY. If you do you tear and destroy the cuticles and hair stands and it frizzes also. Wet hair is weaker and pulling on it with a brush or comb will damage it. Don`t use heated tongs or heated rollers. Remember heat will kill! Only foam/velvet rollers or velcro ect;
3. OLIVE OIL IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD.... for rk hair - or any indian/asian hair. I use olive oil cooking spray that you would spray on a frypan! Just the briefest shot of spray on the last half of the hair. Or a tiny amount of olive oil rubbed between my hands and applies very sparingly. The trick is to use less than what you would think. It is easy to use too much and then the hair looks like an oily mess. I did this the first few times until I used discovered that the iniest bit goes a long way. Then I comb it through all of it. I can assure you girls that it is one of the few thing in the world that will transform the hair`s look and feel before your very eyes and even prolong the life of it for much longer. Almost a miracle. Silicon will actually dry on the hair strands within a short period of time and leave a coating that makes the hair feel stiff and dry. Have you noticed which I am sure you have that when you first put it on the extension hair it feels nice but after some time it "dries" and the hair feels very coarse. Silicon, spray on conditioners (which contain alcohol ect;) and mineral oil products don`t work on indian/asian hair - only caucasian hair. Because the hair is thicker in strands to caucasian, coating it with these products will will actually make the hair feel even like horse hair! It feels worse because the products leave a stiff residue on the hair and actually dry out the extension hair even further in the long run. Studies have proved this. People who use baby oil (mineral oil) on their skin will eventually have even drier skin! Silicon and mineral oil on the hair will do the same. It is a quick fix but does nothing to improve the texture and "health" of the hair strand (if there is such a thing considering the hair is dead!). This hair need moisture in the purest form. Consider the natural sebum oils from your own head that coat your hair when you give it a good brush or scalp massage. Notice how it makes your hair shine and feel soft. Well olive oil does the same thing and doesn`t leave a stiff residue.
4. Put it in a plait if it is very long before you go bed and if possible sleep on a satin pillow. Shorter hair is not really necessary to plait.
5. Well I can tell you that RK hair is definately remy hair with the full cuticle intact and i love the natural wave in it. At first i was wasting a tonne of money on different products but then I have done these things and it feels great - even though it is a light shade #27. Girls I am convinced if you throw out the silicons and leave-in conditioners and only use the olive oil in the ways I described you will indeed have a hair miracle of your own! Remember too that if the hair is not caucasian hair it is a little coarser too and not as fine and silky.
Heh there everyone. I ordered the RK hair in two colours - the ones recommended by a fellow member. I was so excited when I first got the hair, it had such a nice feel to it. Even when I installed it the hair looked OK but then it got poofy and dry looking and high maintenance and after washing it and conditioning it dried out terribly and tangled like nuts to the point where I broke a brush trying to untangle the mess getting ready to go to work and panicking - not a good scenario. So since that experience I ordered the wawa from Vixen Wigs - great service and speedy delivery I got the blonde body wave and I put bonded wefts in with LG like Sherry's though not as long - I'm not pretty enough to carry that look off. So my experience with RK was primarily negative - I called them to return two other batches that are still in plastic and untouched and they gave me a bit of a runaround saying that the shipping would be cost prohibitive blah blah blah and that I should try selling it on my own - so thanks for nothing RK. Oh well, I'll just add that hair to my ever growing supply of 'been there done that' The next hair that I will try will be nature girl because I've heard good stuff. So big thumbs down on RK, don't waste your money.
No tangling at all. After two weeks, the ends started getting dried out so I had them trimmed 1/4 inch. They still looked dried out so after I wash it and condition the ends and blow dry it (yes, I blow dry all my hair) I hair spray the ends of the hair before I take the curling/hot iron to it. The results have been great. I do this with all my hair. My hairdresser taught me to do that. (yes I know it's drying) but better than dried out looking ends. (to me anyways)
I like the RK hair.

I agree with everything goddess said. That is definitely some of the best advice on how to treat the RK hair. I have used olive oil for deep conditioning but I really like the Africa's Best oil. It is great stuff and I use it in the exact manner that goddess uses the olive oil.
It is strange about the RK hair, I had ordered a light color (straight)24" from a member here and it was gorgeous in the beginning, but turned on me shortly. Everything went exactly as Sherrie described and I sadly had to remove it way before planned. So then I ordered 3 wefts from another member here and it was the superwavy in a 4(I think) and 2 in deep wave same color length approx. 26". The super wavy is big hair, but with moisture products it is pretty nice and VERY durable. The deepwave is absolutely gorgeous and healthy and doesn't tangle no matter what I have done to it. I love it and highly recommend it. The odd thing is, that that first weft of hair I got was a mere 31" in width at the 24" length and the second one(from a different member) was 42" wide and was 26" long. Those both were machine weft. Now the last 2 were hand tied and each pack of it had 3 16" wide wefts and was closer to 28" long. I felt a little cheated and disappointed when I realized the discrepancy here. Oh well, we all have learned that some things are just never consistent.
My final verdict on RK hair is that yes, the darker colors are far healthier and the more natural the state of the hair when you receive it the better it is and much longer it will last.
One other thing though, I will say that I didn't want to use very harsh chemicals to lighten this to about an 8 so I bought the Feria Hi-Lift for Browns and let me say that after using it, I began calling it Feria NO-LIFT for RK hair. Others may have more luck but my verdict was that this product didn't budge the color, tone or anything for this specific hair.
