Hi Jade,Thanks for your quick response. I've been thinking about my situation and believe my hair problem is due to a nutritional deficiency. I do not eat enough protein and iron so I think this will affect my hair texture. I spoke w/ my Dr. today and she said it doesn't sound like a medical condition and I should take a multi-vitamin w/ iron and to eat keratin. I hope this works...it will take 3-4 months to see a change. Thanks again.Karolyn
Hi, Karolyn! This is most interesting, indeed. I know you have been wondering what is going on with your hair and I have two thoughts. First, how long have you been taking the Pill? You are right. The Pill can do weird and ugly things to the hair and skin. I have not heard of the darkening effect, but rather thinning and loss of the hair, as well as the texture of hair changing rather noticeably. Perhaps your dosage needs to be adjusted.Second, the sun is unlikely to darken, although I heard about this one time, but that's it. I have also never heard of this result from a trauma via haircut. What I really wondered was whether you might have an accumulation of copper in your system. It's a long shot, but your physician can test you for this. Strangely enough, the Pill can up your copper levels.I would suggest you call your physician and perhaps he/she will know best how to advise you.Bye for now,Jade21Hi, i am hoping someone can help me with my situation.> I have dark brown straight, smooth hair and got my> hair cut 5 weeks ago for the first time in about 6> months and got it layered. Hi, i am hoping someone can help me with my situation. I have dark brown straight, smooth hair and got my hair cut 5 weeks ago for the first time in about 6 months and got it layered. I am very happy w/ the cut BUT now I am noticing that some strands, mostly on the "outside", not the hair that is underneath(did that make sense?) is becoming very black, coarse and wiry. I started to pull them out (came out easily) thinking it was dead (Can hair die?) but there is a lot of it! Is my hair burnt? I don't lie in the sun but when I am out I do not use a hat. Can it be trauma from the cut? What are the effects on the hair follicles? I am also on the Pill and read that a side effect is loss of scalp hair, although my hair is not falling out it doesn't look healthy. I got Citre Shine and it made the rest of my hair super smooth except for the outer strands. Can someone help me/ Thanks for reading.Karolyn
