QuoteReplyTopic: My weave is loosening up.... Posted: October 14 2006 at 7:19pm
How much it too much? One is ok. Then the other 4 are all sorta sitting on eachother about 3/4 away from my scalp. They feel secure, but I didn't get alot of info from the shop I got them done at...so what do you gals think? It's only been a week, what can I expect them to wear like?
Not to jack this thread...but do you use the undetectable sew-in method often? I took Marcella's class, too. Just curious on your experience. I've got one booked for Fri
While we're waitin' for pics, the short answer to your question depends on your hair texture.. some silkier hair types "slip" more quickly than coarser hair types. But given that your scalp tends to be on the oily side, and you are washing more frequently the braids are probably loosening up a little faster than you would like.. Do you know if she sewed the braids together to help keep them in place?? (you may have already answered this..) The other thing for next time is to have her use a net over the braided foundation this will help keep things in place a little while longer..

Tell me if this works....you should be able to see them now. For somereason when I go to access photobucket, I get a blank screen.....Anywho, this was the best I could do. I'm far from a computer whiz...
Dayum.. I was hoping I was going to see more pics like the first one.. (Which isn't bad, and what I expected to see..) The other pics are more problematic.. They are definitely slipping.. You said she used synth hair in the braids right??

We need Hair Dr Shiry in here.. because once the braids are loose like this, they have to come down.. Did you call the shop and tell her you are having issues???

No, I haven't. Honestly, I prolly won't. It's ALOT of work to coordinate getting down there. I could manage it once in a while, but not all the time. The drive itself is over an hour, plus organizing the kids, etc... They aren't all that bad, I would say that one is the worst. The rest are half way between that top one and the bad one. I"m getting close to pulling out the super glue....

Well here's one trick you could try.. Go to Sally's and get yourself a weaving needle and thread.. If Sally's doesn't carry this in your area, Kristin also sells them in her store (weaving needles and the thread)
You can pull the loose track up to the track above it and sew the loose track onto the track above it. Keep doing this for all of the loose tracks until they are all nice and tight again..

Thats a great idea! I have the thread, are the needles special?
It needs to be heavy thread.. Since you make jewelry, you probably have thread that will work already.. The needles are special in that they are curved with a rounded point.
On another topic.. when is your site open for business.. I've been DYING to see your jewelry... ETA: Nevermind.. ummm I shoulda just clicked the "Home " link..

Yah, I think I can improvise for now....My site is open now, but I don't have a ton of stuff up yet. Everytime I plan some photography sessions, something happens and I have to put it aside. With *any* luck, I'll get pics done tomorrow.....Then it's just posting stuff......
Hey, thanks for your help ladies!! Esp DivaV. I was sorta freakin our after I saw those photos myself. I had no idea they looked like that......
No worries girl.. You know we're gonna get cha all fixed up.. I really think after EVERYTHING you've tried that this is a good method for you.. Just gotta work out the details.. Lemme know if this works.. (it should)
OH.. and ONE more thing.. make sure you sew around the wefts and not through them.. Here's my little lame pic on how to tie off the first stitch.
