i couldnt agree with you more, sounds like you are a true professional!!!
 
if the client wasnt happy with the hair or install, your time has nothing to do with her paying for it. Sometimes, you have to give up your time to insure the client stays happy.

Well it's probably been almost a year since I was on here and I'm so glad that I came back to this site.  I also used the clear fusions chips from Yourhairshop.com and had the same problem on my last two clients.  I used them because Kristin always uses them on my hair and I have no problem, they don't turn white and flaky at all and I don't have any shedding.  I actually had to remove almost all of my clients bonds and redo them with the origninal gold fusion chips that I used previously.  Not only did I not charge them to redo their hair but I ended up paying for all the hair to replace the hair that had shed.  I actually didn't even except a tip because I feel that since the customer is paying alot of money to have extensions put in then I want them to be happy with the job, and I'm not happy unless the customer is happy.  On both customers it was several weeks before they called to let me know that they had a ton of shedding.  The bonds were not turning white as I installed them. This is a bond problem not a hair problem.  I discussed this problem with Kristin and she doesn't know what the problem is.  I just can't figure it out because like I said, when Kristin does my hair she does a fantastic job.  I hate to hear that people don't want to purchase products from her because she has been nothing but professional and really helpful, and I wouldn't question her integrity due to the fact that I have purchased all my supplies from her for the past two years and never had a problem.  She has so much experience in the business.  If you want to protect your reputation then I would suggest paying your client back the entire amount that she paid.  I know it's a bummer but it will be worth it in the long run.  It's better to have somebody say "well, there was a problem but the stylist did what she needed to rectify the problem". if you went to a Mercedes dealer, picked out a brand new never driven car from their catalog in pristine condition and upon delivery they tell you that the engine and transmission aren't working and there's a dent in the side. Then they explain to you that they'll give you a refund for them but you can not return the car because they've already paid for the rust proofing and the transporting fees and they feel that they should get paid for the work they've done. Would you say," You know, I can understand your point completely" or would you say," I paid for a new car, you told me I was getting a new car eventhough the damage wasn't your or my fault, I want all of my mother*&%^% money back THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR"?

Chiku, i paid $140.00 for the hair and i ordered 18" the regular u shaped tips. The bonds were terrible, the hair itself was nice. To MsHoney yes i returned her money for the hair only as i felt my time was worth something for the rest of the little bit of down payment. So all is well.

OH CRAP! I just ordered this hair to try, maybe I should be sending it back before I put it in my client..... I got the clear tips though, I thought it was the other tips that had problems with shedding. Has anyone had any success with these? If so, what products did they use?

this exact same thing happened to me!!
how much did you guys pay for the hair though?
except in my case the hair was HORRIBLE it took 4 hours to comb becuase it was so knoted and felt like CRAP!
i lost soo much money and felt uber bad telling my stylist but like the bonds were even like watery
shoudl they have been?

I just want you all to know i received a e-mail back from Kristen saying she did'nt understand what happened to the bonds that turned white on me. She said she was getting new hair in and that she would send me out a sample of it and if i would please give her feed back on it. Also i would get a discount on my next order. Oh well we'll see.

Well Asinnamon, It's nice to know i was'nt alone on the white bonds. I e-mailed Kristen thursday evening and explained my story to her and heard nothing back. So i don't know what to make of that. I definetly will not do business with her anymore. I think i'll try wicked hair. There hair seems beautiful. Well i am sorry you too had that problem with white bonds, i'm still in disbelief.

I ordered from your hair shop, got the 'new' clear tipped hair.  I had it installed with a very reputable extension salon.  Within 3 weeks I had to take them out.  The bonds went white and swelled up on me, and most of the hair had shed out.  I did use a clarifying(non sulphate) shampoo on only the bonds and kristin told me this was why my install went bad.  I'm not an expert, but I did see a week later that she put all her hair on sale to 'make room for new products'.  Live and learn, either way I will not buy hair from her again.  Just my 2 cents....

Thank you so much Malibu- that is really how i try and run my business.
Years before i was licensed, i was a client, and i always said when i get to do hair ( i ALWAYS knew it was my passion~ since i was 5!)   that i would treat my clients like i wanted to be treated. And i really work hard on that.
being treated with care, gentleness  and concern isnt that what we all want?

is there any reason you continued to do the install once you saw it was bad and turning white???
 
refund the money, learn from it and move on. I would also offer her a gift of something, maybe a deep condtioning treatment after you remove them. Client needs to be acknowledged that is wasnt her fault, and that you are on her side!

  I agree with Tangles. I'm not saying that the placement was bad but the fact that they were turning white and flacky AS you were installing them made it a bad install.

  I know she was probaly excited about getting them but when you saw that they all were turning white you shouldn't have continued to install them.
  She was upset last night, she may have calmed down by now. Offer a re-install. If not, you should refund her money.
   Take the loss. It's not worth being sued over and reported to the BBB. That would mar your reputation and the judge would probably side with her anyway.

the bonds turning flakey is not the clients fault. Nor am i saying its yours, however, you are the sylist and if you  dont want your repuation at stake, then i would encourage u to refund the girl all her money if she doesnt want  u to do another install. yes you will take a loss all around, however, its your reputaion that could take more of a loss- sorry you are going thru this. Regardless if you get a refund, its your responsibility as a professional to make sure your install and hair are satisfied by the client.

I e-mailed Kristen  and explained my entire situation let's see if she refunds my money and see if  her reputation is at stake. I only say that because i offered to take out the girls extension in the morning and redo them but she did'nt want to. The install was good it was the bonds that turned white and flacky and just charged her for the hair. If i can get my money back from Kristen then yes you are right and will refund the girl's moneyfor the hair. Doesn't that sound fair?

   Do you know how to pre-tip? You can remove the glue from the extensions and re-tip them with keratin glue.
   If she's willing, re-do her hair. If not, you should refund her money. It's a bad install.  Even though you've done nothing wrong neither did she. Your reputation is also at stake.
