Maybe I'm off base, but I've always associated the name Sophie Marceau with such words as "young, beautiful, French and actress" -- and always thought of someone with long hair. In fact, here are some of the photos of Sophie on a Facebook page:
 
 
And now, here are photos of Sophie from a photo shoot for the movie "Don't Look Back," taken May 16, 2009, at the International Cannes Film Festival. The actress with the longer hair is Monica Bellucci:

According to GettyImages, she hasn't really had her trademark hair since, what appears to be, 2004.  It's generally been shorter (than the facebook pictures and the bond movie). But this is the shortest she's been so far.

She went super short after being a Bond girl; didn't like it then.  She's a long hair girl IMHO.

Most women tend to mix things around a bit as they get older: change the color, length, or something. For me it's a downgrade, but I guess she's in that "mixing things up" mode.

Looked her most beautiful in "Braveheart".
