You need to go back and read the thread before making comments based on lack of knowledge!

My comments were not based on your opinion, just that you hadn't read or understood what had been stated.

Surely you have some old pictures of you with long hair that you could post along with some new ones of your short haircut!

Thanks Alex04

He'd already tried 1) 2) and 3) but hadn't thought of 4). However - hopefully I'll get this right - the camera writes to a 'buffer memory' only if there is no SD card in, and once you insert the SD in it writes from the memory to the card automatically. He said he could find no manual way to transfer from SD to memory.
5) My husbands SD card works in my friends camera, and the SD card from my friends camera works in his Nikon! However if you take further photos on my friends SD card on her camera they won't download - ahhhh!
6) He got nowhere with the recovery disk!

Surely someone who goes on this forum should be able to read and not make such a stupid comment!

As VickyCord's husband has stated the SD card is almost defiantly corrupted by the user not reformatting the card on a regular basis. If people don't want to lose their photos this is an essential thing to do and why on most decent cameras such as a Nikon DSLR you just have to press 2 buttons for about 2 seconds to do so.

The reason why the SD card won't read on to a Mac or a PC is likely due to part of the code which allows a computer to read it, is missing. I suggest VickyCord that you try the following using your Mac:

1) Drag files directly from Finder to the iPhoto icon on the dock.
2) If this fails does your husband have Photoshop or Aperture 2 on his Mac, if he does drag the files to either of these.
3) If that fails look at the file extension in Finder and try converting to another format
I would expect all the above to fail based on what has been stated, but it's worth a try. However
4) You have stated that you can look at the images on the camera. If you are lucky the camera will have a small internal memory, normally only about 32Mb but that should be enough. Go into the menu and settings and find the memory setting. If it exists you should be able to transfer the images from the SD card to the camera memory. Once you have done that re-format the SD card. The best way to do this is using Disk Utility on your Mac. Put the card back in the camera and transfer the images from the camera memory back to the SD card, and then download.
5) If this doesn't work it may be worth putting the SD card in your husbands camera to see if it works there, and / or put your husbands SD card in to the camera that took the photos to see if the card or the camera is at fault.
6) If its the camera give up, if it is definitely the card you have three further choices: a) Try a recovery disk, my experience is you'll spend a lot of time getting nowhere b) send the card to a specialist which will cost you a small fortune or c) give up!

Good luck!

Yes done that, my hubby is very in to photography he's got a Nikon DSLR.

However surely you guys would want to see the before as well as the after photos? Otherwise what's the point you just see a girl with short hair!

Also i think I told you guys after having my hair cut I got a phone call asking me back for a second job interview on Monday. So I turn up, i got a wow from the guy who interviewed me originally, he likes my hair, and yesterday I was offered the job!

Is this aimed at me because I haven't been able to post the pics?

If anybody has got any ideas how to recover the pics I would like them as much as anybody. My husband is going to try using a scandisk recovery CD to see if that will do the trick.

Hi there. Thanks for your detailed posts. Are you trying with the sd card in the camera or separately? It may work if you have the sd card in the camera connect the camera to your laptop. You may also need your friend's camera software although not always. This might work.

Hi Guys are there any IT gurus out there?

So I've got 12 photos and a video. When the SD card is in the camera (my friends) you can view the photos and video on screen. If you try to load the pics on to our Mac, iPhoto doesn't automatically open as it should do. If you go in to Finder, the main folder is there as is the sub folder with the files in, but they won't open!

My husband then tried the SD card in his company laptop (Windows) and the main and sub folder appear in Explorer, but no files!

He thinks that the SD card is probably corrupted because it hasn't been re-formatted. he thinks that if he reformats the card it will probably work fine afterwards but we'd loose the photos and the video - any ideas?
