Hi Jen,I have loose curly hair and therefore, tend to be a bit heavy handed with the anti-frizz products. So once every two or three weeks, I use Neutrogena clarifying shampoo, and this REALLY does the trick-- my curls really come back to life. This shampoo is very inexpensive and if you use it like I do, it should last you at least 6 months to a year-- that's a bargain for a couple of bucks! One thing to remember about clarifiers, they don't have any knd of emulsifiers or conditiones in them what-so-ever (if they do, they aren't a clarifier), so after you wash your hair, it may not feel as silky when wet-- but this is because you are removing all of that heavy build-up. What I do, is just follow up with my regular conditioner and all is great when my hair dries. I really hope you give this stuff a shot. I know it was kinda gimicky when it came out, but it REALLY does work!Sherry> I would really, really like to know a good clarifier -> and one that's not too expensive, please. Also, how> often should it be used?> Thanks so much!
Neutrogena's a pretty good one, I agree,I go swimming a lot and when I get back, I use Aveda's Detox,it does a good job in removing chlorine and salt water.KMS's Phirst I think is a good one.But if you were getting at store brands, try Freeman's Super Straight Hair Shampoo, I really don't need it, but I like it because it is supposed to remove grime from your hair.If you're looking for a good all over store brand, Salon Selectives comes the closest, I'm not sure if they have a clarifying shampoo.
> JenI have used Neutrogena Clarifying Shampoo. It is well worth the money and it does last a really long time if you only use it once a week. My hair is very dry so I used it a little less than that. You may want to follow-up with a weightless finishing rinse or conditioner. If you're looking for volume, I have found a product that seems to work pretty good. It's called "Thicker Fuller Hair". I use the shampoo, conditioner & thickening serum. You can purchase it at any food market or drug store. Hope this helps.
