> What is deposit only haircolor? I only use permanent> haircolor.Deposit only hair color, can also be know as a semipermanent color. These colorants use a very milddeveloper that adds warmth, tones down unwanted warmth,or adds depth to the hair. They do not lighten the hairand then lay down the targetcolorlike a permanent color, they are designed with the low developer so you can get some wear out of them, they will gradually fade overtime, usually 4-6 weeks, usually w/o a lne separating the roots frem the colored hair, depending how much your hairholds on to it. Meaning the porosity of the hair. So youcan actually "try out" a color before commiting to it.Some semi perms. can give a hilighted effect on greyhair, or they can give complete coverage. Now, if you usea permanent color on the roots, you can use a semiperm.color on the ends, so there would be lessdamage. But,you must do a strand test first, so you willknow how long and what shade to use. Hope this sortaexplains it:)
In semi-permanent colors, there is still a little lifting via peroxide, so they are not actually deposit-only colors (Clairol natural instincts is one example of a semi-permanent color). The are much more gentle to your hair and leave little or no line of demarcation between roots and existing growth, but the do alter the hair's structure somewhat because of the peroxide. They do not, however contain ammonia like permanent. In my posting I was actually referring to demi-permanent color, or true deposit-only. This color only lasts about 2-4 weeks as compared to 6-8 weeks on semi-perm. It contains NO ammonia OR peroxide and literally just deposits color on top of your existing color-no damage whatsoever. Clairol's Loving Care, Glints and according to William Loreal's Aurelle (although I have never seen it in stores) are deposit only. In salons, Shades EQ is a deposit only that makes your hair really shiny and healthy.

> I thought there was a bit of peroxide in dep> only??????True dep only colors are rinses, like roux, they are as temporary as you can get, however, if your hair is porous, it will hold on to ay color.
