Hi everyone. I'm new here, and I enjoy reading the posts! I know I'm not the first here to post about my wedding, but I am getting a little nervous! My hair has always been on the thinner side, although I have a large head, so it looks like I have more hair. For the past year or so (I'm 20), however, my hair has been getting more wiry (each strand is thicker). I would usually describe it as straight, but lately it has been ALMOST wavy. When I try to blow dry it straight, it just gets really frizzy. If I let it dry naturally, it is not quite curly; you could call it wrinkled. (The hairs underneath by my neck get a little more curly.) If I use mousse and scrunch it with a diffuser, it just looks stringy and crunchy. Is there a product I could use to tame my hair a little? And also, does this happen to many people (hair goes from straight to curly as one gets older)? And one more problem: I have those little short hairs on top of my hair that spring up and get curly (especially in the Houston humidity), giving me that dreaded "halo" of frizz. HOW can you make these lie down??? When I used pommade once, it made my hair disgustingly greasy. My wedding is exactly 2 months away. I really want an updo, but I am worried about the big head factor. My head is honestly larger than average, and makes my ears stick out some. When I had a french twist for my prom, I thought it looked too masculine. Any ideas for how to wear my hair? my veil is on a comb that I will wear either on top of my head or at the crown, and it will flow back over my hairdo.Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi there. I had to smile when you described your hair dilemmas, because my hair is wrinkled, too. In fact, I had pretty straight hair until I was about seventeen, then I started getting those same little curls underneath, and little kinky spots. My hair is not quite curly, either, but gets big waves, and since I moved to a more humid climate, theres that little frizz halo, too. Recently I have started using a product I found at the health food store called Giovanni Frizz Be Gone that the clerk told me was new. It's great! Doesn't weigh my hair down, but makes it really silky---plus it seems pretty economical. A small bottle was around $5.00, but a teeny bit will do you.I can't really help with the updo business; I have a small head, and big hair, and have the opposite problem with updos. I'm sure you'll get some suggestions. Hope this will help! Kim

Thank you for your suggestion! I will look for the Frizz be gone...I hope I can find it! It would be nice to have "silky" hair! What type of product is it? Gel?

Hi lindsey, first, change in hair texture, i believe that happens to a lot of people, especially once hair begins to grey. i have very straight and smooth hair as a rule, but my grey hairs tend to be thicker in diameter, wiry, flat instead of round in patches and generally "kooky." Recently i have noticed that some of my non-grey hair is behaving as such.... i attribute it to normal aging and also diet - because i also have hairs that are smooth at the end and root but crazy in the mid-shaft..... I have found that regularly using good moisturizing shampoos/conditioners has helped. I also find it helpful to use Aveda Beautifying Composition concentrating on ends nd kooky areas.second - big heads and updos. I also have a larger than normal head. my problem isn't so much with my ears but the fact that my hair looks slightly melon-like.... I have found that it helps to stick to simpler style and soften the look with soft tendrils around my ears. this might help you....you might want to consider wearing a high updo (maybe with loose curls that fall down and frame your face) and attaching your veil immediately under it or working it into the updo, the veil would then soften the style and you can showcase your hair. you shouldn't put all that effort into planning and creating a style just to cover it with a veil!!best wishes!!!JJHi everyone. The Frizz be gone is a gel, which can be used on wet or dry hair. I find it helps my braids and updos stay smooth, and tames those frizzies, and though I haven't used it to straighten my hair (I like the natural waves), you could probably use it for that as well. Good luck!---Kim
