Hi,I enjoy reading this board very much so I thought I would post for the first time and ask for advice with my hair coloring question. For the past 6 years I had been having my hair lightened from my natural color (medium brown) to an ash blonde. It was really drying out my hair ends and I got sick of the roots, and the expense at the salon every 4 weeks. I decided to have my hair colored back to its natural color (medium brown), which I had done gradually over a 4 month period. My hair is now medium brown and I am quite happy with the color. The question I have is, I need to continue coloring my hair as I have a couple of gray hairs on the top of my head. I want to keep the same color (medium brown) but need to hide the gray. Would I be better off going back to the salon to color my hair, or is this something I can do at home? I have never colored my hair at home before and could really use some advice. My husband and I are trying to save money for a house so it would be nice if I didn't have the salon expense, however I don't want to ruin my hair.Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated. Thank you so much, Chris

If you only have a few greys, a good colorist can go in a do "touch color" by applying your natural color to just the grey area for a whole lot less money, DO NOT try this at home though! Home color is what we call progressive, It lifts and deposits color at the same time. when the color fade's you get the unnatural lookig redish tones from the lifted natural color, kinda like a peoxide look. Even some semi's can do this so beware.

What good is it for anyone to view the question. I feel this was a complete waste of my time. I am searching for help in home coloring, cap & hook lightening myself. I am full of questions but your site only creates more questions in my mind. Where are the answers posted?? If not here, link me to a site.thanks
