What do most of you consider eating healthy for your hair and helping hair to grow as fast as possible? I follow a vegetarian diet, and eat alot of fruit, vegetables, and tofu, and have a 1 or 2 protien shakes a day to make sure I'm getting enough protien, along with taking vitamins and flax seed oil capsules. Should I be adding anything else to make sure my hair is growing as fast, and as healthy as possible? Thanks.
Hi Ann,I'm also vegetarian (lacto-ovo), and my diet receives the majority of calories from complex carbohydrates (such as whole grains and beans). Your diet sounds good but you might think about adding more complex carbohydrates, as they give you energy and protein. I think the trick with fats is to eat enough of the right kinds of fats, but not too many! Of course, this time of year is rather challenging....!One thing also that I've read numerous places that is necessary for all-over health as well as hair health is adequate sleep. Unfortunately, this is where many of us suffer a lot. I rarely get more than 4-5 hours a sleep, but when I get more, I *feel* better and am probably healthier.> What do most of you consider eating healthy for your> hair and helping hair to grow as fast as possible? Hi, Ann!In reference to your second question, are you drinking plenty of water? I try to drink plenty of good-quality water daily for my system overall and I do think it's great for the growth and condition of your hair.I eat red meat rarely now. For my protein, I like plenty of fish, mostly salmon, rainbow trout, bass, and tuna, and a bit of chicken. Like you, I do like the fruits and vegetables, too:) I strive for a balanced diet myself. I like a good supply of "good fats."Here's one of my favorite salad recipes:4 types of lettuce (romaine, Boston, red, and a bit of iceburg)Shredded purple cabbage all aroundAlfalfa or broccoli sproutsPieces of avocado spread over the topA dressing of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, freshly-milled black pepperBye for now,Jade> What do most of you consider eating healthy for your> hair and helping hair to grow as fast as possible? > Hi Ann,Considering how good your general diet looks to be and with all the other good sounding food (yum) and advice that preceeded me, I would also recommend taking prenatal vitamins. Most of my customers have found that when they add this component to a healthy, balanced diet with regular exercise (to increase overall circulation; remember your blood circulates up to your scalp too), sleep & water thatthis supplement really does seem to help.
