Hi, some good vutamins would be, Ultra nourishhair by GNC, and H37 and Hairtopia. The sell those two on this website.
Boition is very good for hair growth, and you could take extra supplments of that.
Also, silica is good, it makes you hair strong :) I am sure there are some others I cant think of now.
Hope this helped!
Long, red, slightly wavy hair. Trying to go grow very long! It`s about 3.75in. from my belt now :)

Right now I`m taking, Silica from Vitamin world and Natures Bounty (hair , skin and nails) and amino acids from Wal-mart.

I`m also taking a multi, B complex, and C and some calcium. I sometimes think it works, other times I`m not quite as sure. My hair could be growing it`s normal rate???

Last time I went for a trim and highlight retouch my hairdresser said I had a ton of re-growth. I`m going back tommrow (it`s been 2 months) hopefully she says the same thing. I know my hair`s getting longer, but I want it to grow faster!

I`m a college student and I can`t really afford the vitamins on this site. I told my hairdresser what I was taking and she wasn`t really sure if they would work, so she said to buy the cheapest stuff I can.

Thanks for the help guys :)

What are some good vitamins to effectively promote hair health, that I can commonly find and aren`t *too* pricey?? And also, which ones can I find in food sources?? (i.e. Folic Acid...)???
Thanks again!

I use GNC Ultra Nourishair. I buy it at the GNC store, they have buy one get second bottle for 50% off deals. So for two bottles I pay 24.99. Each bottle contains 60 tablets. My hair is growing in much healthier and my nails have never been better.

I have been using VIVISCAL for about a month now. I only take 1 pill a day vs the 2 that they reccomend. I DO see a result!!! My hair has grown alomost 1/2 an inch and it looks a lot healthier. The only side affect I have had is an itchy scalp...has anyone else had this experience?

i use "hair-force" vitamins by prairie naturels with two spirulina pills (500mg each), one msm pill (1000mg) and one vitamin E pill everday. i also take protein shakes with amino acids in it. this seems to be working VERY well for me! im hoping to add an extra biotin supplement soon once i get the money.

The most important thing to remember when taking hair vitamins is that it will take a long time for you to notice any significant difference in your hair. You need to remember that once your hair leaves your scalp, it`s dead, and nothing can help it from the inside after that point. It does not matter how slow or fast your hair grows; if you do not take care of the length, then the vitamins will not do anything to improve the look of your hair. There are things you can do to help keep the hair you already have healthy, like avoiding silicones (ingredients that end in -cone) and hairdryers and curling irons. Using an oil treatment at least once a week is good for helping out dryness. NEVER brush your hair wet, use ONLY a wide-toothed comb to ease out tangles in wet hair. If you take vitamins and notice a significant change in the growth rate of your hair, most likely this has more to do with your body getting the nutrients it needs to make you on the whole healthier. If your body is in a general state of imbalance, it will show the most in your hair and nails, so if you start taking vitamins to promote better hair, the rest of your body will take up these nutrients and make your general overall appearance better.

Personally, I take MSM (1500 mg) to prolong the growth cycle, a multivitamin because I`m too poor to eat right, Calcium for stronger bones and also because I don`t care for drinking milk, and lately Vitamin C to get over this goddamned cold I`ve got. My hair has been growing about an inch a month for as long as I can remember, and no matter what I`ve done to try to speed my growth, the only thing that`s really helped maintain the same growth rate is eating right and getting moderate exercise.

1"/37"/42"+ to see how long it will grow
My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.

That`s such a good post NICOL - substances taken internally take awhile to effect hair growth and they cannot effect the look of the hair already on your head. The exception to this is if something effects the oil production (which can obviously make your hair dry or oily) and if some medical condition is going on that causes hair to fall out or break.

It`s like loosing weight - you`re in for the long haul ... gabi

I just started taking GNC Nourishair, how long was it before you started seeing results? Does it make a big difference?

I found that L-Cystine 500 and Biotin 500 from GNC have really helped me.

Viviscal contains PABA ,( the same ingredient contained in
sun-block cream )and horsetail. These 2 ingredients
cause me itching. That`s why I combined different
vitamins bought in drugstore which I know, not causing me trouble.
But it`s more expensive than the Viviscal bottle alone.
Horsetail is for silica but I`m allergic to this herb, so I use
a silica gel made from only silica dioxide.
Maybe , I'll make mistakes in my sentences, I usually speak French. But this site is great and I love it !
