Hair grows on the average of a half inch a month. All the conditioners, vitamins in the world won`t change that.....Its DEAD Vitamins won`t revive a dead person nor a shaft of hair. The best you can do is protect it from any outside damage that may harm it and hope for the best.
Three years ago I got my hair cut from past my mid-back to a shoulder-skimming one length. Didn`t look right. Went back and asked for layers from the lower lip, but she gave me layers from my bangs! I looked HORRIBLE and was depressed for many months, avoided looking in the mirror. I never realized the subtle power that hair has on the esteem. It took those 3 years to grow it almost to my waist.
A year and a half passed first, and I got that `cut the hair itch`. The endless search for the perfect picture showing exactly what I wanted. Trying to find actresses who have my face shape and similar features and similar hair texture. Tall order, that! Stopping girls out in public if I loved their `do and asked them who cut it. Another year and a half passed before I scratched the itch.
~sigh~
I am now growing it back and just ordered some viviscal. I got it cut into a layered bob just under my chin. It`s been a real struggle trying to style this cut I`ve never had experience with before. It seems A LOT more high maintenance than my long hair ever was!!! Everybody unanimously loved it, raved about it, but I`ve not fallen in love with it at all. I wanted sexy, spunky, youthful, bed head. I style it and I look like news anchor lady. Too formal. My goal is to grow it all out 3 inches to my clavicle, bangs included (that will be the hardest part!).
But you know something? I don`t regret it. I needed a change, had wanted to try this for yeeeaaars. I see cute short hair on girls and envied them for their seemingly effortless simple `just rolled outta bed` beauty. Maybe I put too much work into my hair, but it is fine and does need some lift. I went camping with no hair resources, but bought claw clippies in desperation to attempt some sort of casual style. Actually, I did achieve a small measure of cuteness with them. :) Wearing one right now!!! I was so bored with my dragging long split ends. At least now my hair looks thicker and healthy.
It will probably take you 2-3 years to get your length back. In the meantime, try to make peace with your new `do and go on the elusive hunt for transition styles in the meantime as you grow it out!
I had hair to my waist and cut it to just below my chin this spring. ...a layered bob. I LOVE IT! I added some highlights a couple weeks after the cut.
I think it looks so much more stylish than my long hair did. It was sort of boring... Even guys tell me that they like it.
OOOOOOOH yes, I regret it. I cut mine from mid-back all the way to my neck...I am insane. I don`t like short hair on me..but I broke one of the golden rules...don`t do anything drastic with your hair when your depressed! It`s been about a month and my hair is starting to be tolerable. The sides are almost to my jawline...I figure another month I will be able to wear it without tucking it behind my ears. I have vowed never to take depression out on my hair. Right now I plan on growing it back to wear it was and never ever getting it cut this short again...I don`t feel as pretty as I was. Hair is so much of your identity.
