I just got microbraids this weekend. I went to a cosmetology student, so I assumed she knew what she was doing. My question is, are microbraids done the same way as regular box braids? The reason I ask is that I was told the style would last up to three months, but I don`t see how that`s possible because mine are already coming a loose, a little at a time (they were done using the same braiding technique as box braids, only smaller of course). Is there something I can do, or use, to preserve my style? Also, what`s the best way to clean my hair now that it`s been braided?

Hi, I don`t know the technique to be used but they definitely should not be falling out so soon. Also, I wouldn`t recommend leaving braids in for more than 60 days as our hands tends to lock after this time period resulting in more hair loss when the braids are removed. As far as shampooing your braids. You should make several pigtail all over your head then clip then all toghether at the end. Then take the shampoo and use your finger tips to work between the pigtails put some water with the shampoo first so that is is very "liquidy" this way it wil be easier to wash out. Leave braids in pigtails until dry. I wouldn`t suggest you use a blowdryer since your braids are already falling out.

I hope this helps...
