Should I get highlights? (Pics)

I'm very pale myself, so I could be biased, but I like the look of pale skin and dark hair.  I'd say to stick with that ^_^ .

I think the guy's hair looks a bit brittle because I'm guessing he either only bleached his hair and didn't tone his highlights, or they faded.  Highlights complement anyone's face, no matter the shape, you just need to figure out if chunky highlights will look good on you.  If you decide to go ahead and do it I suggest you don't get them as chunky as his, get them about 1 cm (1/2 in) thick or less.  Then if you feel you really like the look and want something bolder you can have them thicker.  I do suggest you tone them though, and not just bleach them, try a medium golden blonde after you bleach, which I think will look nice.  If you want them lighter than medium blonde, then you can try an 8.3 (light golden blonde), but check the color out in a suppermarket and see what color you'll want them.  Just make sure you tone (color with permanent hair dye after you bleach), otherwise it'll look dry and brittle, like the guy's hair.  Also, to keep your hair healthy, deep condition once a week, if you go to the beach and you feel you need more moisture, then you can deep condition twice a week and for daily maitenance use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (this is in case your hair is too dry though, otherwise normal shampoo and conditioner and weekly deep conditioning should be fine or it might weigh you hair down).  All in all I say go for it, if you're looking for a change then why not?  I think it'll look great on you.
