I haven't heard of hair loss due to pregnancy 5 years after birth. Have you had your thyroid checked? Also uncontrolled diabetes can lead to severe shedding.

i use there products too one of my indian friends is a herbalist and reccommended this company to us many many years ago.
She takes one called Healthy hair and nails http://www.mapi.com/en/1-800-255-8332/haircare.html she also uses there shampoos and conditioners. And many other products i also like. They have a step by step routine you can follow to get your hair back on track.
thanx for all your input. i have been under sooooo much stress the past year. i need to start taking better care of myself. since i gave birth to my twins in 2001 i stopped being a vegetarian and also quit yoga. they're in preschool now and i am going to start taking care of me again. thanx for all your help

Hypothyroidism will make your hair fall out. It will also make your skin very dry.
I am hypothyroid and sometimes the amount of hair I lose in the shower is amazing. Fortunately I have a lot of thick hair, so it doesn't affect the way I look!
My endocrinologist told me that it can take 8 to 10 weeks for your hair to stop falling out after your TSH is normalized with Synthroid. So you have to hang in there for a few months.
The last time my TSH fluctuated, it did take a few months for the hair loss to finally slow down.
You have to be patient and keep a watchful eye on your TSH.
Taking good multi-vitamins will also help, including Omega-3 and Evening Primrose Oil.
