QuoteReplyTopic: Is wearing braids in your hair over night a bad idea? Posted: August 12 2002 at 1:30pm
I have thick, dry, wavy hair and find that wearing my hair in two or more braids overnight makes it shiny and more consistently wavy. I seem to recall, however, that leaving braids in hair can damage it. Considering the popularity of french braids and such, I find this hard to believe. Anyone have any thoughts/experience?
And if it makes any difference, I braid it when it is wet and sleep on it.
In my experience, braiding my hair to sleep on it has helped it to stay tangle free. That means less handling on my part, and less stress on the hair. I think *tight* braids could be harmful, but a loose braid is fine, imo. I braid mine wet too...
If you are concerned about dry hair, take a look at the book "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey, it`s in all the bookstores.
