the only products I see are Luster's; Motions; African Pride; Doo Gro and the $.99 jars of Blue Magic hair grease. Now don't get me wrong, I grew up on Blue Magic..but Black woman have evolved from these products.

@ The BSS's near me I see tons of imitation products and product lines. How there's ORS (Organic Root Stimulator) they have another ORS in similar packaging (bottle design) not as natural (Organic Root Salon) and sometimes they're mixed together

I agree...they carry way too much low budget stuff. I prefer using a salon quality product in my hair. But you know what...for a pharmacy I don't even buy my products there. Either online or at the Beauty Supply. I like to explore all the products and there are some things you can buy online that you can't even get in the store.
I have come to realize, that some products not created for Afro type hair is great. For example, I love Nexxus Humectress. I call it "hair crack" . I mix Nexxus with my fave protein conditioner, sit under a heating cap for :30 minutes and it makes my hair soooo soft. I think you just have to think outside of the "black products" that are on the shelf and just use the products that work for you.

You have a great point there but I have tried A LOT of products and the pharmacy brands are just not as potent for me. I have to use like half of the bottle to get good use.
I've used Nexxus before with great results. I didn't know it was a "non- black" product.
What are your thoughts on how "hair relaxers/ products for ethnic hair are usually seperated from the overall shampoo/styling product aisle?
Also, What are your thoughts on your hair as a black woman? How does it define you? What does it say about you?
