Thanks for the response. I dont really have one. once a week i put in hot olive oil and let it sit for bout 30 min before washing off., Besides that just regular shampoo/conditioning. I try not to wash everyday but its tough because i work out almost everyday and my hair gets all sweaty. Only product i use are a leave in conditoner and some hair gel.
Your treatment sounds really good. HOnestly I was and condition my hair every day with working out. I just fee like it makes my hair softer and cleaner. I love the oil idea tho for sure. I saw you are doing a good job. hoow long do you want your hair?
I also use VO5 extra body conditioner. I buy it from CVS,
Walgreens. Only use the EBC, no other kind. I use it after I
shampoo, then use the Kiehls conditioner. On the other days when I do not
use the shampoo I just use the VO5 and then the Kiehls Condtioner. Works great
for only 99 cents. You can be generous with it and scrub until it
lathers. Wash and repeat if needed. I work out everyday and it
takes away the sweat and leaves my hair very clean.
You should also use a semi or demi permanent hair color. This type of
color will coat your hair and fill in any gaps that your hairshaft may
have. It is a deposit only type of hair color, so it will not lighten
it. It will also cover some grays, but not the stubborn ones. If
you are into coloring your hair to get the grays out then use a permanent
one. The type of hair dye I like is from the Clairol Professional line
and I buy it from Sallys. I will go with either a 4 or 5 level to match
your hair. I really like this color gloss. This one colors the
grays very nice. It is a semi - so it will begin to wash out after a
month - but oh, boy - the shine you will have! http://www.clairolpro.com/products/demi_permanent/radiance
Today I just used this demi-permanent from Clairol. Again I bought it
from sallys. http://www.clairolpro.com
Love, Love, Love the soy complex line. It is a beautiful hair color collection.
I have highlights, but they were fading a bit and getting too blonde. I
used the 7G and my hair came out very nice. I have a few grays and it did
cover then a bit, but not very well. I usually use the 5nn for myself in
the permanent and that covers gray hair completely. My hair is very soft,
shiny and very healthy looking. The soy
line will also cut down tremendously on frizz.
Overall
between the soy and the color gloss – I like the color gloss better in the semi
line.I just feel that the color gloss
gave my hair more bounce, body, and shine. To cover my grays though I will only use the soy complex line. What I usually do is cover my roots with the
permanent and then use the gloss on the rest (make sure you wash out the
permanent first).The color gloss is
used on wet hair the permanent is used on dry.
I only like
use to use the extra body formula. This
is hard to find in stores so I order a
case of it online.Last me for awhile that’s
for sure – LOL!To finish off my hair
routine I use John Frieda frizz ease.Just a teeny tiny bit on the ends of my hair. Think pea size.http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/product_detail.asp?productLine=frizz_ease&pid=52
All of the
products I use on wet hair.I then let
my hair dry naturally except for my bangs – I blow dry then flat iron them.I have pics of my hair in the hair journal
section if you are interested. Hope this
helps for you.Good luck on finding your
good hair day :O)
Hot olive oil may not be the best thing for hair. Warm would probably be okay, but hot doesn't really add any extra benefit, and it can add extra damage if its too hot. Olive oil is not the most hair friendly choice, as it goes rancid and turns into peroxides, (but these have to be at really low levels or people wouldn't be able to still eat rancid olive oil - so, it may not be worth worrying about). Coconut oil and jojoba oil are what people often use, leaving it on the hair all the time instead of using it for a once in awhile treatment.
Depending on your conditioner, leave in, and water, you might be able to get at the cause of the dryness. If you don't use heat, or chemicals, your hair should be in great shape. Well water can make it look and feel dull and dry if its full of minerals (it makes soap scum on your hair essentially). You can use a rinse of dilute vinegar water after you condition if that is your cause. If you don't know, basically - if you don't have hard water, the vinegar won't make a noticeable difference in your hair, but if you do, you will definitely notice it feels better. You can use about 1 Tbsp vinegar in 1 cup water for a final dump over your head after you rinse out your conditioner (don't rinse out the vinegar, the smell will evaporate).
If its build up from the leave-in or the conditioner that's causing your troubles, use a shampoo that calls itself "clarifying". You will have to condition really well after using this shampoo. Your hair should feel noticeably softer after this wash if this was your problem. If your hair feels worse after clarifying, your products may have been causing buildup on your hair that was breaking off your hair anytime a piece of buildup broke off and was masking the damage. You can keep using products that do this if you like them, just add a clarifying shampoo to your wash every 2 months or so.

Thank you all for your replies. I will try the tips that you have provided. one problem i may have is i used to wash my hair everyday with shampoo for a long time. I also used to blow dry everyday as well. As far as products, after washing i usualy put in some hair gel and infusium leave on conditioner, thats about it. Shampoo i just use general stuff i find at the store like herbal essense and dove conditioner.

Another question. What should i use on days when i dont wash my hair? should i use the same type of products and do the same things as i would after washing?
You can, it doesn't really matter what days you use your products. If they have silicones in them, the more you use the more they will build up, but clarifying with fix that. The blow drying is okay if its on the cool setting, if you were using hot it may have added to the dryness.

I got the kiehls conditioner and the VO5 conditioner and been using it. its been making my hair feel a lot softer. However, since my hair is so soft and fluffy now, the breakage hair is sticking out all over the place. Is there anything i can do to manage this and keep it under control so its not stickign up all over the place looking like a mess? Thanks in advance.

I looked around and i guess the more common term for what i am referring to is fly away hair? The day i shower or the day after i have hundreds of hundred sticking all over the place. Seems to weigh down the more days after a shower.
Did you try the mousse on it? I can not go without the mousse or my hair looks like a witch. Also, lately I have not been using the Kiehls. I am just using the vo5. I tried the smoothing conditioner and shampoo from vo5 in strawberry and I really liked it. It did not weigh down my hair but left it really full and healthy looking. Hey, for 99 cents you can't go wrong with just trying it right?

Thanks again for the tips. i did try the mousse, dint really work on me. What iv been doing is shampooing with the kohls and using the v05 conditioner then the kohls conditoner. Helps the hair great being nice and soft. The problem i have is the day i wash my hair, the hair is just complelty uncontrollable. I have the broken flyaway sticking out all over the place and the dryness frizz all over. iv used frizz ease but that doesnt seem to do a whole lot. The more days i go without washing, it starts to get more settled. Usualy this happens bout 2 days after washing. Im at wits end trying to figure out how to get it under control after washing.
hmmmm - are you blow drying your hair or air drying? I wish I just could get my hands on your hair and see for myself what you are dealing with. I will find a cure for you - LOL. You don't live anywhere near NJ do you?

I air dry my hair now. I havnt blow dried in almost a year now. i
workout almost daily as well so its hard to not wash my hair everyday.
Here is a picture to let you know what i am talking about. I took this
picture 4-5 hours after showering. This is how my hair normally turns
out the day i shower. The more days go by the more it sets down, but
also ads more dull and dirty lookingness from not washing.
The hair sticking out on the top of your head is either new growth, or hair that has breakage all of way up to almost the roots. Are you brushing your hair? That may be causing the breakage. Do you have a lot of hair that comes out when you shower? I am asking these questions because your hair problem may not be something that you are doing to it, but may be hormonal. If you are having hair loss, and breakage and you are not causing it, I would get your thyroid checked and even complete blood work done.
Thank you for the response. Its all caused due to hair breakage. i have it all over my hair. I never really cared for my hair until just recently and treated my hair extremely rougly prior which caused the breakage. i sedt o wash everyday and then brush right after washing with wet hair and caused a lot of hair to fall. i thought that was normal so dint really care until i started understanding how to keep healthy hair. i went to get a trim recently and the hair person said as well my hair is ok except for the breakage all over the place and said maintain it well moviong forward and eventually it will get healthier. I guess im running out of patience when i look at the hair hehe. Any tips that can help this sticky problem until the hair gets healthier? Thanks again!
