Hmmmm, this topic came up while out with the catt_grrl just the other day. She said "don't cut it". . OK, maybe not quite that easy; I know she takes a whole handful of supplemments too.

enfys, I was wondering what kind of art you do, since I've heard you mention it sometimes. I'm an art student as well, but I'm going into graphic design as a career. I still take lots of fine arts classes, like figure and portrait drawing (ink, pastels, charcoal, pencil, paint, etc) whenever I can fit it in. I hope you do well as an artist!

Well, no one says you *have* to use any of these things . I eat healthily (& exercise) as well, but I can say that regular use of jojoba oil and taking certain hair vitamins (other supplements I take/rotate as part of an ongoing "experiment" ) has improved the condition of my hair a lot----it grows faster (& my nails grow like weeds--definitely didn't before), I get less breakage & fewer splits (requiring less frequent bottom trims), and shed hairs are replaced with tons of new growth. Let's just say it was more difficult to reach midthigh (the point at which I started taking supplements & using better products) than to grow from midthigh to lower calf .

I dont use suppliments either. Besides, from what I understand alot of foods have too many added nutrients etc and we really dont need to take vitamins on top of that if we are eating healthy. A bowl of ceareal can give you more than you need plus adding a vitamin!! Arggg! Anyways i just eat healthy and that is all.

I'm kind of surprised that the question you gorgeous longhaired women don't get asked most is: "Will you marry me?"

I want to be a Graphic Designer, too, but would love to make it as a "real" artist, with exhibitions. I enjoy doing Pop Art pictures but try all sorts of media. I collect different types of paint, I think!

How much longer will it be before you qualify, Jenna? I have to finish this year in school, do two years in college, then a foundation year, and then a final three years in University. It's worth the wait though!

There's not too many fine art classes around here that aren't in school hours, so I do all my art at home.

I wish you all the luck in the world too Jenna

That's what I believe too, Erinlynn. I know it's dangerous to overdo it with some vitamins and minerals, so they start to do the opposite and do permanent damage e.g., too much calcium is bad for your teeth.

Besides, I think your photos have prooved that you can naturally grow very long hair that it also very beautiful.

Hi Enfys, I wish you luck on making it as an artist. I'm sure your work is very interesting since you seem quite creative. Perhaps you'll be famous someday! I'm not sure I have what it takes to make it as a fine artist, so I just take art every semester and think of it as a my hobby instead. I'm going to school in Amsterdam next year so I hope to find classes there and get a different cultural perspective. What a beautiful environment too, and a home to some of the greatest painters.

I'm going to be finished with school is 2 or 3 years, and I love school so I wouldn't mind staying longer. I'm really excited because the school I'm going to after Amsterdam has courses in Interior Design, graphic design, illustration, and fine arts. I won't have time for requirements.

I'm glad they worked so well for you! What supplements do you take? I eat very healthyfully too (except I'm a vegetarian so I'm not sure about protein), but I've heard vitamins can usually be helpful anyway.

Supplementing my diet with vitamins/minerals/herbs definitely helps improve my hair's fallout rate. Of course, so do other basic factors, such as base diet (reasonably good), exercise/health (modest amounts) and stress (sometimes high, but fairly well managed, I believe).

I always take a one-a-day multi vit/min, plus silica, plus either GNC UltraNourisHair or Nature's Plus. I also take Propecia (not recommended for women who are of child-bearing age).

enfys,

I don't take supplements for my hair, I think it's healthy because of all of the other things I try to do for it (avoiding heat styling, surfactants, and overshampooing, using good conditioners, drinking a lot of water, eating high vitamin foods).

I do take a multivitamin when I remember, which hasn't been often lately, however, we're going to try for a family soon, so I'm going to try to remember to take it from now on.
