I am aware that the home coloring kits from stores are damaging to hair. Is this also true for the highlighting kits? I would like to save a buck or two on salon visits but not if it means that my hair will end up looking like straw. I am very conscious of keeping my hair healthy. Thanks for your advice! Janeah

Look at it this way......saving a 'buck or two' by doing it yourself now will probably mean spending mega bucks later to try and correct any damage or mistakes made by you. If your hair is healthy now and you want to keep it that way, go to a professional who's had the training it takes to do it right the first time. And get recommendations from people who've used colorists and had good results. This, coming from one who made that mistake of trying to save $ and do it myself.....boy was I ever sorry and did I EVER pay! That was two years ago this past November, and my hair is just NOW getting back in shape (thanks to William's great advice on the Redken Shades!! :) Good luck to you!
