Just wondering, do other members plait their extension hair when they go to sleep in it? what else can you do to minimuse tangles when you are sleeping in your hair also when you do the wild thing - do you leave your hair out, or plait it Im especially interested in how ppl avoid tangling synthetic extensions? |

I've only worn human hair, but I never braid it or tie it back when I sleep. I like my hair free and loose on the pillow. Even when doing the wild thang I haven't had any problems with tangles or mats. I love waking up looking touseled. A quick finger-combing is all the Russian hair I'm wearing now needs to get any little tangles out.
I've read on BHM.com that some of the African-American women go to pretty elaborate lengths wrapping their hair at night. Some said they always wear their head wraps for sex too, to keep from messing up their hair. I think my guy likes to see and feel my hair much too much to keep it wrapped up in bed.  ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

Generally if I am wrapping or covering my hair at night I do it "after" sex..  I find my hair is in MUCH better shape in the morning when I "organize" it at night. Usually NO combing of any kind is required.. Usually I take my hair down and it's shake and go.. (I love those mornings! )------------- Check out the 5th So Cal offline luncheon??  On the other hand Zephyr actually OWNS a hair extensions and hair supply business.. It's just that some people might question, because you work so closely with Sherrie on her site as her Network Administrator, whether you advertising for Sherrie on other sites is pretty close to Sherrie advertising for herself. For the record helping Sherrie out on her site is no different than what I do for A LOT OF my friend's who also own small businesses.. Helping Sherrie doesn't make Sherrie's business MY business. If that was the truth, then it did it would mean that helping my friends Donna, Kim, and Richard with IT issues and such in their businesses makes me a principal or an owner of their respective businesses as well.. Now that is a silly ASSumption since clearly helping someone out with their business doesn't automatically assign that person an owner's share in ANY business... If we used this logic, most of us (who are not self employed) would OWN the companies we work for, and we all KNOW that's not true don't we?? I've become friends with A LOT of the vendors I do business with.. Many of my friends became my clients, and many of my clients also became friends.. Whether or not people blatantly advertise is not an issue for me at all. I like a free exchange of ideas, and if this includes self-promotion, all the better! What I don't get is the animosity about and between some of the vendors. It amazes me that a fun hobby like hair extensions can provoke such drama.
I've also noticed a weird suspicion when anyone enthusiastically endorses a product that they MUST somehow be benefiting from it. I sensed it it after my raves of the wonderful hair I recently purchased. Even if I did have some kind of *deal* with the vendor, so what? A good product is a good product and I for one appreciate hearing about others' experience with products and the vendors that sell them. ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

I totally agree with you Kristie M!! I love hearing reccomendations, exchanging info on what works and what doesn't. It helps us all to save money and avoid hair disasters.I have learnt so much from reading these forums, its been a real life saver!!

Hey all,
This is such a fine line that we have been trying to balance for all of the 9+ years that HairTalk has been here (yes...our 10 year anniversary is right around the corner).
HB.com has a Marketplace with 10,000+ items. The majority of the items we sell from the MP was hand picked by me originally and I still have final veto power. I try to only sell the best products but also look for good value and what our customers ask for.
I also try to never talk about the MP products here in the forum or to advertise other than the ads at the top. But it is hard because some of the products we sell I use all the time and love, love, love them. Also...sometimes people post direct questions to me about those products.
As a rule I tend to always want to help my friends and family so I will drive them nutty when I find something new that I think they just have to try out. I am that way about everything. Recently I was telling everyone that they had to go to my new dentist here in Dallas (really handsome and doesn't hurt), they they should go to my rolfer (fixed my bad knee) and my Feng Shui teacher (that's a whole other post). They got so tired of me telling they rolled their eyes or told me to shut up. :-)
I wouldn't say that I am advertising for my favorite practioners but in a sense I guess I am. So what does that mean? The flip side of the HairTalk blatant advertising coin is that the purpose of this forum is to help each other and share ideas.
Like I said...it is a careful balance that we try very hard to maintain. We don't always do the best we can but we try.
I error on the side of extreme caution and unfortunately if you give someone an inch they will take a mile. I guess it also goes down to the word blatant. Which is where our biggest problems come in. I think most everyone would agree on what is blatant...and we get so many of those.
Thankfully so many of you help me by letting me know as soon as possible. And you would be amazed at once an advertiser is banned how many times they try to come back to advertise again. Even when we ask them not to.
My favorite case....one Chinese wig guy kept coming back over and over. I emailed him and told him he was welcome to buy ad space for a banner or in our salon diretory but he emailed me back....why should I pay when I can sneak my ads in for free? HA HA.
That says it all. ------------- That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-) |

I wear only human hair extensions.. When I wore synthetic pieces, sometimes I slept with them in at night.. I found they (synthetic hair) don't fare as well without some type of head covering at night to keep the hair in place.. How are you wearing your hair??
