Are pinchbraids applied with a needle or latch hook?

I just saw something like that, I think on doctoredlocks.com's demonstrations, but I can't remember any details. You could poke around that site and see if you see anything.

Hi Cute and Sassy,
Pinch braids are done with thread only  for individual strands placement. Small tiny braids close to the scalp tied off with string. No tools, just string.

Check out this you tube
This method has many different names but basically you are making a very thin track with string and sewing the wefts onto it. This is very popular for mens hair pieces, also known as Apollo method.

I have seen the method your talking about on video done by Lisha Coleman

Hi Cute and Sassy,

I've been on that site before. I think it's microillusions. If you save the picture of it and magnify it in MY PICTURES on you computer you can tell(it's the third pic with the insert). Sheprobably uses the crochet needle instead of dental floss. This is what she says about how it's applied:
Q: How is it applied or attached to my hair?
A: The Strand by Strand System is a very unique interlocking technique that involves weaving small amounts of hair onto your hair. The Strand by Strand System does not cover your hair, but blends your hair with 100% human hair that perfectly matches your natural hair color and texture. Giving you a more natural look and feel. To ensure uniformity and longevity of the hair extensions, this procedure is applied by using actual crochet needles, no thread, no beads, no glue, no wax, no heat or dental floss, is used during application

You cut it!
There is a little "nubby" it creates.
However...I would think after several months of wear it would be hard to pick it outConfused
I've never had the patience or aquired the speed to try this on anyone but my mannequin.

Hey guys,

Agape says that they seal their microillusions with Agape sealant to help the illusions last up to a year. What is the sealant, nail glue or crazy glue? Maybe liquid gold? Any ideas?

To me it looks like a very tiny fusion bond. That doesn't look like the undetectable strand that Marcella Ellis taught me. I don't even offer that method because that hair is going to keep growing down and eventually you are going to see it. To say that it will last a year is a total lie. The microillusions looks like fusion to me.......maybe it's just me. I thought the man on hairextensiontools.com taught that? I've got to the point where more stylist are teaching a method or learning a method and putting their name on it. We are probably already doing some of the stuff and not realizing it.

Agape does the micro illusion method with the dental floss.  I've spoken with someone that got it done.   It also says on the website that they use dental floss.  The difference is the braid is so tiny like literally a few strands of hair to a few strands of extension hair.   I've also seen the video on the method.  Its extremely small braids tied off.  The same concept as undetectable strands.  I didn't realize that undetectable strands were braids as well.

Instead of a crochet needle they use the dental floss.  Its the same thing you wrap the hair around the dental floss and the braid 3 times and then pull the wrapped hair through using the dental floss.

I've been told their special sellant seems to be a nail glue of some sort but i cant say for sure.

I was also told that she had to cut them out of her hair because they got tangled and matted.

Shirly I think the other method is microchet from the hair extension guide.  Not sure if thats what you are speaking of.  I've been told thats the best method to get an invisible strand look because it doesn't cause damage to the hair like the micro illusions.

I have the microchet dvd but I haven't tried it on my mannequin yet. It's very simple but it's designed so that you have to buy hair from him that's supposedly very expensive but you can make it on your own. The whole kit is $500. The extension hair is fusion bonded with a looped string(probably thin weave thread) on it's end. There are two methods on the dvd but four altogether. Option B is so small that once it's in you can't tell it from you own hair if it's a 1/4 inch or more from your scalp. You use a crochet hook and seal it with nail glue. When you remove them you just remove the glue and just pull the looped extension knot, no cutting necessary.
